Hard-core liberal Rob Reiner got schooled by Bill Maher for denying that legacy media suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story prior the the 2020 election.
During Friday’s episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher,” the titular host asked the “Stand By Me” director if it was “Is it okay to have a conspiracy to get rid of Trump?”
“Now look, let’s not pussyfoot around this… he was selling the influence of his father, Joe Biden,” Maher said. “I mean, most political sons do, but let’s not pretend at least that was going on. I mean some guy from China, after a dinner, gave him an $80,000 diamond.”
“As one does, if you’re Naomi Campbell,” he joked. “So Hunter Biden’s laptop was buried by the press. Even the head of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, said that was a mistake.”
“[Podcaster] Sam Harris says it was appropriate for Twitter, and the heads of big tech, and the heads of journalistic organizations to feel that they were in the presence of something that is a once-in-a-lifetime moral emergency, meaning Trump,” Maher continued. “So he’s saying it’s okay to have a conspiracy, to get rid of somebody as bad as Trump.”
He added that “it’s a little bit of a thorny question,” as the country is so divided that “the other side is so evil, anything is justified in preventing them from taking office.”
The “When Harry Met Sally” director shot back, “You know what’s not justified? Using armed violence to try to kill people in the Capitol. That’s not justified.”
Maher pointed out that mainstream media “buried” the story prior to the election, because they remembered that Hillary Clinton lost to Trump in 2016, after then FBI director James Comey announced an investigation into the former Secretary of State’s emails eleven days before the election.
“And we know for a fact that that’s what they did?” Reiner shot back. “Of course! You don’t follow this?” Maher questioned.
“I don’t know what they did,” Reiner exclaimed. “I know because you only watch MSNBC,” Maher accused.
Reiner has proven to be a Donald Trump hater since he joined Twitter in 2016, and used his first tweet to bash the former president.
”Donald Trump is a narcissistic, misogynistic racist. He’s a pathological liar. We can’t let him anywhere near the White House,” he wrote along with the hashtag #UnhingedTrump.
