Former President Donald Trump clapped back at reality star Kim Kardashian over an excerpt involving them both in a liberal journalist’s new book about him.
Trump blasted ABC News’ Chief Washington correspondent Johnathan Karl and Kardashian for a story that appeared in his his recently released book, Tired of Winning: Donald Trump and the End of the Grand Old Party, a scathing criticism of the 45th president’s time in office and the aftermath.
Karl wrote that Trump asked Kardashian to use her celebrity persuade NFL players to make appearances at the White House in exchange for commuting the sentences of prisoners she was championing during his final days in office.
The former president and Kardashian met at the White House multiple times in 2018 and 2019, while she was advocating for prison reform through her Justice Project.

She petitioned Trump to commute the sentence of nonviolent drug offender Alice Marie Johnson in May 2018, who was serving a life sentence for possession of cocaine and money laundering.
Trump commuted her sentence on June 6, and those of three more women Johnson helped select in March 2020.
The ex-presdient lashed out at Karl’s version of how his association with Kardashian went down in a Wednesday post on his platform TruthSocial.
“Failed ABC Fake News reporter Jonathan Karl just wrote another bad book,” he began.
“He works sooo hard, but has sooo little talent – Some people have it, and some people don’t.”
After taking a few jabs at Karl, the former commander-in-chief took aim at the SKIMS founder.
“In the ‘book’ he has the World’s most overrated celebrity, Kim Kardashian, supposedly telling me that she ‘would leverage her celebrity to get football stars to come to the White House,’ if I would commute the sentences of various prisoners,” he continued.
“This story is Fake News in that she would be the last person I asked to get football players.”
Trump pointed out that he did help with commuting prisoners, but only if they were “deserving” of the act.
Though he noted that he really helped out for the “Keeping Up With The Kardasian’s” star’s ex-husband Kanye West, rather than her.
Trump also accused Kardashian of “probably” voting for “Crooked Joe Biden” in 2020 in his post.
“And look at the mess our Country is in now,” he concluded. “Many other false stories in Karl’s very boring book, but nothing worth mentioning!”
Axios obtained the excerpt from Tired of Winning when the book was released on Tuesday.
“A source familiar with the conversations tells me Trump listened to her requests and demanded a straight-up quid pro quo,” it reads.
“He would grant the commutations, he told Kardashian, if she leveraged her celebrity connections to get football stars who were friends of hers to come visit him at the White House.”
Karl explained that Kardashian attempted to comply with Trump’s alleged request, but wasn’t able to come through.
“Kardashian actually tried to do what Trump demanded, seeing it as a small price to pay to get justice for people she believed were serving unjust sentences,” the excerpt continues.
“But all the players she approached declined. Trump had become too toxic. In the final two weeks of his presidency, nobody wanted to be anywhere near him.”
The book claims that Kardashian contacted Trump after he left office to request his help with additional clemency endorsements, but when the former president called back, he refused.
“Hell no, the former president told her,” the book stated. “He wouldn’t do it. ‘You voted for [Joe] Biden and now you come asking me for a favor?'”
Karl pointed out that Kardashian has refrain from discussing who she voted for in 2020.
He said that the call between the pair concluded abruptly. After “a few more choice words, the line went dead. Trump had hung up on her.”
The former president’s spokesperson had their own choice words for Karl in response to the book’s passage.
“Disgraceful and talentless John [Karl] is a back-bencher who could never get his own show for obvious reasons,” the statement read. “Excerpts previously released from this ‘book’ have already been thoroughly debunked.”
“This filth either belongs in the discount bargain bin in the fiction section of the bookstore or should be repurposed as toilet paper.”
