Comedian Bill Maher trashed the federal prosecutors spearheading the hush money trial against former President Donald Trump after witness Stormy Daniels’ disastrous testimony last week, and he has the tape to prove it.
“I mean, the Democrats have had four years to put Trump on trial and it is all just going away,” Maher bemoaned on Friday night’s episode of Real Time. “They blew it at every turn!”
He complained that the charges Trump faces for allegedly falsifying business documents to conceal hush money payments during the 2016 Presidential election were the Democrats only chance at putting the ex-president behind bars.
“They’re going to take up Trump’s argument about Fani Willis. And if she’s the prosecutor, she’s having an affair with the guy she hired,” he predicted about the Georgia election interference trial.
Bombshell from Bill Maher as he uses previous footage from his own show to reveal how Stormy Daniels contradicted her testimony:
"Let me show you a little video: This is when I had Stormy on in 2018.
Maher: Why did you fuck Donald Trump?
Daniels: "I have no idea. It is not a me… pic.twitter.com/8PgGUv1K3O— Eric Abbenante (@EricAbbenante) May 11, 2024
Maher claimed that the Willis’ affair with Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade was “not really relevant to the case,” but nonetheless “left an opening,” which allowed the defense to file an appeal about the judge’s ruling that Willis and Wade’s affair was not a “conflict of interest” in the trial.
“The stolen documents, one that’s never going to happen because that’s a Trump judge down there,” he said about indefinite postponement of the classified documents trial. “So it’s Stormy or bust.”
Daniels testimony on Tuesday nearly cost Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against Trump, after the adult film star described her 2006 “sexual encounter” with Trump in excruciating detail that Judge Juan Merchan noted would have “been better left unsaid.”
Daniels explained how she had spanked the ex-president “right on the butt” with a magazine he was on the cover of, and claimed that the power imbalance between the pair caused her to engage in the “brief” encounter, which she hinted may have not been consensual.
“He was bigger and blocking the way. I was not threatened verbally or physically,” she testified.
Unfortunately for Daniels, Maher broke out the tapes from a six-year-old interview between the pair that he said proves that “she’s a bad witness.”
In the clip, the adult film star discussed her alleged affair from Trump, which the HBO host said was “quite a variance” on what she said on the stand.
After he asked why she had “f**ked” Trump, Daniels said she didn’t know, but clarified that the encounter was “not a Me Too case.”
“I wasn’t attacked, or raped, or coerced or blackmailed,” she spelled out. “They tried to shove me into the Me Too box to further their own agenda.”
Daniels explained that she “didn’t want any part of that,” because “it’s not the truth,” and she does not see her self as a victim.
“That’s not what she’s saying now,” Maher said after watching the segment. “She’s talking about ‘he was bigger and blocking the way.’ It’s all the Me Too buzzwords.”
She said, ‘There was an imbalance of power for sure,’ ‘my hands were shaking so hard.’ She said she blacked out. Blacked out? She’s a porn star!” Maher said incredulously.
“Do you really think she blacked out? A porn star is used to having sex with people she doesn’t know. That’s the job.”
“I just think she’s not a good witness,” he concluded.
Maher has repeatedly flip-flopped in regards to his feelings about Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s criminal case against the former president.
“I just would like to go on record in saying I think this is a colossal mistake if they bring these charges. Not this one, you know,” Maher said last year.
“I mean, yes, he’s done a lot of bad things, and I’m sure he did this – everything they accused him of [doing], he did. But first of all, it’s not going to work. It’s going to be rocket fuel for his 2024 campaign.”
At the end of April, he apparently changed his mind and predicted Bragg would be a “rising star of the Democratic Party” if he won the case.
“This one, I got to say I was always against [it] because I thought of all the ones you’re bringing, this is the least serious. … Now I think Trump could lose,” Maher began.
“I’m turning on this one because it’s not what I thought it was going to be.
“And by the way, if this goes that way and Trump loses, it’s going to change the whole election,” he continued.
“A number of independents, a significant number, and Republicans say their vote will change if he is a convicted criminal,” Maher concluded.
“And he’ll look like a loser, not that he doesn’t already, but you know.”
