Steven Seagal made wild claims about Ukraine while shamelessly promoting Russian President Vladimir Putin’s agenda when he was honored at a state sanctioned ceremony on Thursday.
The washed up American action star received Russia’s Order of Friendship award for his “great contribution to the development of international cultural and humanitarian cooperation” at the Kremlin in Moscow.
In video footage of Seagal accepting the award, which went viral on social media, the “Above the Law” star made a series of controversial statements about Ukraine, which is currently fending off an invasion with the help of allies across the world.
In a clunky statement read directly from his phone, the 80s action hero claimed that before Russia’s February 2022 incursion, “Ukraine was known for human trafficking, organ trafficking, narco trafficking, child sex trafficking, biochemical warfare labs, fascism and nazism.”

“And these are the things that we still tried to make them our brothers,” he said parroting Russian propaganda about the war-torn country. “These are all poisons that can affect the entire world and not just us.”
Elsewhere in his speech, Seagal suggested that ratcheting global hostility could lead to “World War 3” and criticized his home country, the United States, and other Western nations for backing Ukraine over Russia.
“This war that we are currently embroiled in was started and financed by the West, and has come to involve the entire world in a fight against good and evil,” he stated.

“All religions, all nations and all people should unite instead of being controlled and fooled by the monster of fake press,” the “Under Siege” star added.
Seagal has been friendly with Putin for over a decade, and was personally handed a Russian passport by the five term dictator in 2016.
I know we make fun of Steven Seagal quite a bit, but when you see his martial art in action in real life, you realize just how deadly he would be in a real street fight. Trying to follow up to see if any of the other combatants here survived: pic.twitter.com/ENthe4iFdM

His long-standing support of Russia cause the actor to be barred from entering Ukraine until 2021, with his latest remarks likely to extend the ban.
In 2018, he was chosen as “a special representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in charge of Russian and American Humanitarian ties.”
Seagal proved his loyalty to the Russian president by attending the inauguration ceremony in Moscow for Putin’s fifth consecutive term on May 7.
Back in March, the contentious authoritarian ruler was reelected to the presidency in a landslide, ensuring his tenure until at least 2030.
Putin is the longest reigning Russian leader since the era of dictator Josef Stalin, who headed the Soviet Union from 1924 until he died in 1953.
The same month, Seagal took time out to see victims of the Islamic State terrorist attack on Crocus City Hall at the Pirogov National Medical and Surgical Center in Moscow.

The 71-year-old actor expressed his gratitude to three people injured in the March 24 terrorist attack for “their courage and perseverance.”
“I think that Russia will serve as an example and let the world understand that you can’t just do this to any people and go unpunished,” he said at the time.
“I thank the doctors for the prompt work they are doing, I am glad to see that the patients are feeling well and are recovering,” the special representative stated.

Back in the United State, Seagal’s reputation is not faring nearly as well after he became a high-profile Putin acolyte and faced accusations of sexual harassment and other misconduct by several Hollywood actresses, including Julianna Margulies, Portia de Rossi, and Jenny McCarthy.
In 2018, an extra from 1994’s “On Deadly Ground” accused him of sexually assaulting her while she was at his home in Beverely Hills, California during the film’s 1993 wrap party.
The woman said she was only eighteen at the time of the attack. Seagal has denied these allegations.
On a lighter note, fellow Hollywood martial artist Jean-Claude Van Damme revealed that Seagal once turned down an insane amount of money to fight him.
Van Damme, 63, recently discussed his long-time feud with Seagal, 71, which dates back to the 1990s.
He said that their dislike for each other was so well known at the time, that film producer and executive Peter Guber once wanted to settle it with a fight between them.

“They were having an idea to have a fight between me and Steven at The Mirage [in Las Vegas],” Van Damme told the outlet. “Twenty million each. He didn’t take the fight.”
The Telegraph noted that the clash stemmed from Seagal questioning his “legitimate fighting credentials” in the early 1990s during the height of their action careers.
“Kids’ stuff, kids’ stuff,” Van Damme remarked when asked about a Sylvester Stallone claim that Seagal also declined an opportunity to fight at a party he threw in 1997. “People told me [Seagal] doesn’t speak so nice about me. I don’t know why.”
Despite their contentious past, the actor wasn’t surprised that the “Half Past Dead” star had a successful run in Hollywood.

“The first movie I saw of his, I said, ‘This guy’s going to make it, he’s very charismatic.’” he remarked about his action rival. “Even now, with his overweight years, he’s got this Steven Seagal way of talking.”
Though Seagal has turned down the opportunity to fight the “Bloodsport” star more than once, Van Damme has a plan if they ever come to blows.
“If him and I fight, I run faster than him – much faster,” he detailed “I would run away. He’s going to try to catch me, he’s going to get out of shape. I come back and fight. Do you like the technique?”
