Donald Trump probably rattled some Swifties when he questioned if pop star Taylor Swift was a “legitimate liberal” or just pandering to the left-wing masses.
In a soon-to-be-released book, Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass, by Variety’s co-Editor-in-Chief Ramin Setoodeh, Trump shared his thoughts on Swift.
“I think she’s beautiful—very beautiful!” he remarked when asked about the “Cruel Summer” singer.
“I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump,” the former president continued in an excerpt revealed by Variety.

He then questioned, “But is she really liberal, or is that just an act? She’s legitimately liberal?”
“It’s not an act? It surprises me that a country star can be successful being liberal,” Trump added.
When reminded that Swift transitioned to pop music years ago and hadn’t released a country album since “Red” in 2012, Trump retorted, “Garth Brooks is liberal. Explain that! How does it happen?”
Despite Swift’s immense success, including her 14th album topping the Billboard 200, Trump doesn’t consider himself a fan.
“Don’t know it well,” he admitted about her music. “I hear she’s very talented,” he acknowledged, also emphasizing, “I think she’s very beautiful, actually — unusually beautiful!”
Swift proved to be “legitimately liberal” when she broke her prolonged silence on politics in 2018 by endorsing Democrats in Tennessee races, where she hails from.
She also laid into Trump in 2019, claiming that he was “gaslighting the American public” at the time.
In the wake of George Floyd’s death, Swift blasted Trump for “stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism.”
She took to social media in May 2020, writing, “After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? ‘When the looting starts, the shooting starts’??? We will vote you out in November.”
Swift has also been seen with Biden and former President Obama, participating in events like a virtual gay pride celebration in June 2020.
She targeted Trump again in August 2020 after his controversial comments regarding the U.S. Postal Service and mail-in ballots.
“Trump’s calculated dismantling of USPS proves one thing clearly. He is WELL AWARE that we do not want him as our president,” she posted at the time.
“He’s chosen to blatantly cheat and put millions of Americans’ lives at risk in an effort to hold on to power.”

Just weeks before the 2020 presidential election, Swift endorsed the Biden/Harris ticket.
“Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs,” she remarked in an interview.
Earlier this year, The New York Times reported that Biden’s campaign was seeking Swift’s endorsement for the 2024 election, which she has yet to give.
Trump shared his thoughts on Swift in February on Truth Social, days before she attended the Super Bowl to watch her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, become a three-time league champion.
He addressed speculation that her relationship with Kelce was a political ploy to endorse Biden.
Trump clearly didn’t believe the rumors, pointing towards legislation he signed that benefited music artists.
“I signed and was responsible for the Music Modernization Act for Taylor Swift and all other Musical Artists,” he wrote. “Joe Biden didn’t do anything for Taylor, and never will.”

He joked, there was “no way” Swift could endorse Biden and be disloyal to him, who had “made her so much money” with the legislation.
“Besides that, I like her boyfriend, Travis, even though he may be a Liberal, and probably can’t stand me,” Trump added.
Meanwhile, Kelce said that if he wins another Super Bowl, he’d visit the White House regardless of who was in the Oval Office.
“It’s always an honor to go to the White House,” he said on his “New Heights” podcast with his brother, former Eagles player Jason Kelce.
Kelce’s comments came after the Chiefs visited the White House following their Super Bowl win in 2024.
“I kinda mentioned it last time, any time I get a chance to be recognized by the President of the United States and get to go with my teammates and a group of men and women that I had success with to the point we get acknowledged,” he began.
“I’m doing it every time, no matter who’s up there at the helm. No matter what’s going on in this world. It’s just such a cool opportunity,” the tight end continued.

“I think representing the Chiefs up there, I wanted to do that for the Hunt family and all our coaches,” he said. “I wanted to make sure I remembered that and got all those pictures and memories in the bank with them.”
During the podcast, he noted that “four or five Secret Service members” came up to him during his White House visit, after he attempted to take over the presidential podium before being blocked by quarterback Patrick Mahomes last year.
“They told me, “You know, if you go up to that podium, we’re authorized to tase you … It is actually an order for us to tase you,”‘ he recounted.
Biden actually invited him up to the podium to speak this time and Kelce joked about the Secret Service’s threat.
“I’m not gonna lie President Biden, they told me if I came up here I’d get tased so I’m gonna go back to my spot,” he quipped.
A spokesman for the agency cleared up that the agents were joking around with Kelce, rather than seriously threatening to harm him.

“Our agents and officers were happy to support Travis and the Chiefs’ official visit to the White House, even presenting him with a Secret Service pin,’ Secret Service spokesperson Nathan Herring remarked.
“As for the taser comment, Travis and our personnel were having some friendly banter as we have passionate football fans throughout our organization.”
