“Wicked” star Ariana Grande blasted former President Donald Trump’s latest executive order, which declares federal recognition of only “male and female” genders.
Signed on Monday, the order revokes several of former President Joe Biden’s initiatives and replaces the term “gender” in federal documents with “sex.”
Trump stated that this move would put an end to “the government policy of trying to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life.”
He declared, “It will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female,” prompting applause from those in attendance.

Grande, responding to the policy, shared a post from Advocates For Trans Equality on her Instagram.
The post read, “Today is a tough day for our community. The incoming administration campaigned on attacking trans people’s lives, healthcare, and dignity, and we’re bracing ourselves for what these extremists will try to do next.”
Advocates For Trans Equality added, “No matter what comes, we will protect each other. We have fought even harder battles before and won. We’ll do it again.”

She also shared a statement by podcast host Matt Bernstein, who said, “Let’s be very clear: queer and trans people were here before Donald Trump and will continue to be here after he’s dead.”
“Whether or not you want us to exist is secondary to the simple fact that we do,” Bernstein went on.
“The sun does not care if you sign an executive order telling it to stop rising each morning. It just continues to rise.”
Further expressing her discontent, Grande posted a video featuring remarks from an Episcopal priestess at the National Prayer Service that Trump attended.
The clip highlights bishop Mariann Budde’s statements, describing how many LGBTQ individuals, including young people, live in fear for their lives.
She captioned the post, “Watch Trump get called out by a bishop during prayer service.”

Trump slammed Budde after she admitted to using the sermon to deliver a diatribe about politics.
“The so-called Bishop who spoke at the National Prayer Service on Tuesday morning was a Radical Left hard line Trump hater,” he posted on Truth Social.
“She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way,” he added. “She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart.”
“She failed to mention the large number of illegal migrants that came into our Country and killed people,” he continued. “Many were deposited from jails and mental institutions. It is a giant crime wave that is taking place in the USA.”
“Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one,” Trump said in a parting shot. “She is not very good at her job! She and her church owe the public an apology!”
Pop star Demi Lovato extended her support to transgender fans via Instagram stories, following Trump’s order.

“If you are trans or non-binary like me, please know that I see you, I feel you, I am with you. You are validated, you are loved and you are not alone. No one can take away our identities and no one can tell us who we are or aren’t,” Lovato wrote. “We will get thru this. I love you.”
Known for her gender identity fluidity, Lovato recently resumed using female pronouns instead of they/their after previously saying, “It was absolutely exhausting. I just got tired.”
Netflix’s Karla Sofía Gascón, the first transgender actress nominated for an Academy Award, condemned Trump as “shameless.”

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gascón said, “He is shameless. I hope that whatever needs to happen happens to shut everyone up, on both sides.”
Sharing her concerns for the broader challenges facing the transgender community, Gascón noted, “We are going backwards. The new generations have not experienced what the previous ones have experienced, so they are destined to repeat the same mistakes.”
She urged caution, warning, “Be careful with giving power to the intolerant, because it will end the little tolerance we have.”
“They will never be able to take away our pride in our existence, they will never bring me down, I will continue to fight for a more just humanity,” Gascón added.
