President Donald Trump tore into Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib on Wednesday after the two Democrats repeatedly interrupted his State of the Union address.
“When you watch Low IQ Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, as they screamed uncontrollably last night at the very elegant State of the Union, such an important and beautiful event, they had the bulging, bloodshot eyes of crazy people,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“LUNATICS, mentally deranged and sick who, frankly, look like they should be institutionalized,” he added. “We should send them back from where they came.”
The president’s post followed a tense night in the House chamber. As Trump spoke about border security and funding for the Department of Homeland Security, Omar rose from her seat and shouted accusations toward the podium.
You can’t not love the guy. 😂😂😂

At several points she yelled, “You are a murderer” and “You’re a liar,” as Trump criticized Democrats over immigration enforcement and claimed they had cut off homeland security funding.
Tlaib, seated beside her, also shouted objections. She wore a round button that read “F— ICE,” referencing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and a separate message that read “STAND WITH SURVIVORS RELEASE THE FILES,” a nod to materials tied to Jeffrey Epstein.
Throughout portions of the speech, cameras caught both lawmakers scowling and speaking out while Republicans applauded the president’s remarks.

During one exchange, Tlaib shouted that “Alex wasn’t a criminal,” appearing to reference Alex Pretti, an armed man shot and killed by federal agents during immigration protest unrest in Minneapolis.
Later in the evening, Omar and Tlaib left the chamber before Trump finished his address.

Their departure came as the president recounted a raid in Caracas that led to the capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.
On Wednesday, Omar defended her decision to heckle. “The president talked about protecting Americans, and I just had to remind him that his administration was responsible for killing two of my constituents,” Omar told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, citing the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti during federal immigration enforcement operations.
When Blitzer compared her interruptions to past moments when Republicans shouted during former President Biden’s addresses, Omar said she did not regret speaking out.

Rather than boycott the event, she argued it was important to “hold the space for our constituents that have lived through an occupation from federal law enforcement, that have been terrorized, that have seen our neighbors been killed and traumatized in so many ways.”
Actor James Woods blasted the two Democrats on social media, accusing them of disgracing the event and embarrassing themselves during a formal address.
Trump broadened his attack beyond Capitol Hill and turned toward Hollywood.
He targeted actor Robert De Niro, who appeared on MSNBC’s MS NOW and urged Americans to resist the president.
“They should actually get on a boat with Trump Deranged Robert De Niro, another sick and demented person with, I believe, an extremely Low IQ, who has absolutely no idea what he is doing or saying — some of which is seriously CRIMINAL!” Trump wrote.
“When I watched him break down in tears last night, much like a child would do, I realized that he may be even sicker than Crazy Rosie O’Donnell, who is right now in Ireland trying to figure out how to come back into our beautiful United States,” the president added.

“The only difference between De Niro and Rosie is that she is probably somewhat smarter than him, which isn’t saying much.”
De Niro had led what he called a “State of the Swamp” rally following Trump’s address.
Standing before supporters, the actor said he felt betrayed by the direction of the country.
“The bottom line is that I feel betrayed by my country,” De Niro stated.
He argued that while the nation does not need to be perfect, it must return to the values that he believes once defined it. He called on Americans who care about the Constitution and rule of law to mobilize.
“If you want our leaders to be accountable, if you’re devoted to the Constitution and the rule of law, if you want the United States of America to be worthy of your love, be ready to take to the streets together, and we will take our country back,” he said.
At the rally, De Niro referenced an incident from five months earlier involving late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and controversy surrounding remarks about Charlie Kirk. He framed the moment as part of a broader struggle over free speech.
“We the people must never accept government threats to our freedom of speech,” he proclaimed.
De Niro also described the current political climate in stark terms. He suggested that the country feels unrecognizable to him and compared public expressions of patriotism to an unhealthy relationship.
“Our country isn’t so lovable right now,” he said, adding, “In the current climate, declaring love for our country is like an abused spouse professing love for their abuser.”
He accused the Trump administration of acting like “government thugs” and warned that democracy itself faces risk. He suggested that the events of January 6, 2021, served as a preview of what could happen again.
“Who is going to stop him? We the people, because we are the only ones who can stop him,” De Niro declared. “I’m filled with anger and outrage.”
Days earlier, De Niro labeled Trump “the enemy of this country” and urged Americans to “resist” him despite the president’s landslide victory in the 2024 election.
He argued that the MAGA movement would remain even if Trump were no longer in office and said voters must confront it directly.
Trump’s post also revived his long-running feud with Rosie O’Donnell.
O’Donnell relocated to Ireland in January 2025 with her teenage daughter shortly before Trump’s second inauguration.
In a recent interview with Chris Cuomo on “SiriusXM’s Cuomo Mornings,” she revealed she quietly returned to the United States for two weeks to visit family.

This is blatant defamation. It’s time for Trump to sue Rosie.

“I was recently home for two weeks, and I did not really tell anyone,” she said, explaining she wanted to see her children and gauge how it felt to move in and out of the country.
She said she needed to determine whether it would feel safe to return over the summer while her daughter is on school break.
O’Donnell described experiencing the United States differently after spending time abroad. She said she has not been consuming American news or television culture while living in Ireland and believes that shift changed her perspective.
“I’ve been in a place where celebrity worship does not exist,” she said. “I’ve been in a place where there’s more balance to the news. There’s more balance to life.”
She described Ireland as offering a calmer atmosphere and less fixation on constant political conflict. She insisted she does not regret leaving and believes the move protected her well-being.
“And I’m very happy that I’m not in the midst of it there because the energy that I felt while in the United States was — if I could use the most simple word I can think of — it was scary,” she said.
“There’s a feeling that something is really wrong, and no one is doing anything about it.”
