Singer John Legend blasted Americans who were upset over President Biden’s fascism comments during his speech in Philadelphia on Thursday.
“When the president comes out as anti fascist and pro democracy and you feel attacked … Perhaps you need to do some introspection,” Legend tweeted the next day.
“My pastor grandfather would say ‘I ain’t talkin bout you unless it’s you,’” he wrote in a follow-up post.
“MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution,” Biden said on Thursday. “They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people, refuse to accept the results of a free election.”
The 46th President said that they view Capitol rioters as “patriots,” rather than “insurrectionists who placed a dagger to the throat of our democracy.”
“You can’t do a failed coup then complain about divisiveness,” Legend concluded. “Nobody’s forcing y’all to be pro-insurrection. Nobody’s forcing y’all to vote for people who want to overturn free and fair elections. You have a choice. Choose democracy.”
Liberal celebrities were quick to demonize Republicans from their keyboards. Disney star Josh Gad tweeted, “If you don’t like being called a fascist, stop doing fascist stuff maybe?”
“Charmed” actress Alyssa Milano was dismayed by how many GOP candidates have been supported by the former president.
“There are extremist, Trump supporting, election deniers who are running for office at all levels—from school boards to election officials,” she tweeted. “1/3 of our Supreme Court was appointed by a president who is going to be indicted on espionage. My Republican friends are also terrified.
While “Stand By Me” director Rob Reiner appealed to GOP politicians who oppose Trump. “Non MAGA elected Republicans: You have the power to save our Democracy. Let Liz Cheney be your North Star. No job is worth destroying 246 years of Self Rule,” he wrote.
