New York Attorney General Letitia James slapped former President Donald Trump and his eldest three children with a $250 million lawsuit on Wednesday, alleging that the family committed a “staggering” amount of fraud through their eponymous organization.
The 220-page civil suit accuses Trump of fraudulently inflating the value of his business assets to get favorable loans, insurance rates, and reduced tax rates “at least 200” times, and that Trump Jr., Eric, and Ivanka were all a part of and profited from the conspiracy.
“Donald Trump falsely inflated his net worth by billions of dollars to unjustly enrich himself, and cheat the system, thereby cheating all of us,” James said according to the New York Post “Claiming you have money that you do not have does not amount to the art of the deal, it’s the art of the steal.”
The 45th president fired back at James on his Truth Social platform. “Another Witch Hunt by a racist Attorney General, Letitia James, who failed in her run for Governor, getting almost zero support from the public, and now is doing poorly against Law & Order A.G. candidate, highly respected Michael Henry,” he wrote.
“I never thought this case would be brought – until I saw her really bad poll numbers. She is a fraud who campaigned on a “get Trump” platform, despite the fact that the city is one of the crime and murder disasters of the world under her watch!” Trump added.
“Not a political “witch hunt?!” What a joke,” Eric Trump tweeted.
“The bulls–t Dem witch-hunt continues!” Trump Jr. slammed. “This is all about politics. Weaponizing her office to go after her political opponents!”
Their sister Ivanka remained mum on the lawsuit, but liberal celebrities were quick to chime in. “It’s times like this that i think “he didn’t HAVE to run for President, he chose to. He really had the delusional self confidence that somehow this wouldn’t come out,” posted John Cryer.
“Letitia James lands the first big blow. Fani Willis will put him on the ropes. Merrick Garland will deliver the knockout punch. A great day for the Rule of Law,” crowed “Stand By Me” director Rob Reiner.
“Am I alone, or should Donald Trump be CRIMINALLY charged as well?” Billy Baldwin added. “If MAGA thinks today was a bad day, wait until they see November 8th.”
“They have been cheating the American people out of billions for decades,” posted “Rosemary’s Baby” star Mia Farrow. “They will now lie. name-call & take the Fifth. But facts reveal crooks- scammers soaked in money they didn’t earn honestly. They are a crime family living lush – far above the law.”
“You would think at the very least, after today the Trumps won’t be able to f–k over a bank as easily anymore,” added “Grace and Frankie” star Ethan Embry. “A Trump: “It’s 30k sqfeet.” The Bank: “Ok we will stop by Wednesday with a tape measure.””
“My favorite is how he never actually denies anything. It’s always someone’s hunt or somebody else is racist, or from a place w crime, or radical,” former tennis champ Andy Roddick wrote in response to Trump’s Truth Social post. “Never just a simple “I didn’t do that, and I look forward to defending myself in a court of law.”
“Law enforcement is going after Trump because he’s a criminal who remains a threat to society,” former “Star Trek” star George Takei tweeted. “Democrats demand accountability. We don’t protect and cover for criminals, whether they are a sexual abuser in a college athletics program or a former president who committed felonies.”
“Arrest him – close your eyes – AG garland – throw a dart – open them – you will have hit a felony – you are surrounded by & incircled by a wall of felonies – Choose one – arrest him – Any other human being in earth would be in cuffs,” John Cusack wrote.
“Trump is going to “I don’t know them.” about his own children, isn’t he? #TishJames,” wrote comedian Kathy Griffin. “That #LetitiaJames press conference felt like great sex! I’m gonna eat a NyQuil cheeseburger and take a nap.”
“Melania divorce countdown has begun,” snarked “Medium” star Patricia Arquette. “Truth social DWAC stock is down to $17.90 from $175 at its height. Wowza.”
“And how is YOUR day going?” Luke Skywalker portrayer Mark Hamill asked Trump.
