“Real Time” host Bill Maher believes arresting former President Donald Trump would be a “colossal mistake,” while podcaster Joe Rogan said that the possible indictment is only happening because the left “don’t want him to be president again.”
During the HBO show’s Friday night episode, Maher surprisingly advocated against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg bringing charges against Trump for financial crimes relating to the Stormy Daniels alleged hush money payout.
“I really don’t want to give Donald Trump the satisfaction of talking about him,” he began the discussion with the show’s panelists. “I thought when he was gone, he’d be gone a little bit.”
“But, you know, there is an ex-president out there now who’s going to be arrested — possibly,” Maher continued. “And he is talking about violence in the streets of his supporters if he does.”
Last weekend, Trump urged supporters to “protest” and “take our nation back,” as Bragg’s looming indictment was expected to, but didn’t, happen on Tuesday.
“I just would like to go on record in saying I think this is a colossal mistake if they bring these charges,” Maher stated.
“Not this one, you know. I mean, yes, he’s done a lot of bad things, and I’m sure he did this — everything they accused him of [doing], he did.”
The HBO host argued that arresting the 45th president would likely blow up in liberals faces, and only serve to further arouse Trump’s base.
“But first of all, it’s not gonna work. It’s gonna be rocket fuel for his 2024 campaign,” he warned.
“And it’s just gonna look to MAGA nation like, ‘Oh, you know, you tried with Mueller, you tried with Ukraine, you tried with January 6. Now we go to the porn star? Really? You’re down to that?!'”
Spotify podcaster Joe Rogan compared the $130,000 payout to Daniels in 2016, to President Bill Clinton $850,000 settlement with sexual harassment accuser Paula Jones in 1998.
On Wednesday’s episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” guest Jorge Masvidal, a UFC star, brought up Trump’s pending legal trouble.
“Now what they’re trying to do to our boy Trump is f–king nuts, bro,” Masvidal noted.
“They’re talking about arresting him for paying a girl to stop talking about them having sex,” Rogan shot back. “I thought that was a good deal. I thought it’s a good deal.”
“Didn’t [Bill] Clinton do that?” He questioned. “Didn’t John Edwards got in trouble for doing that, but he didn’t go to jail. I don’t believe he went to jail.”
Masvidal wondered how Clinton could pal around with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein without scrutiny, but Trump has been the subject of several criminal probes.
“That’s the one that he got caught in,” he explained. “How much other s–t do we not know about?”
“Why isn’t there no nothing on Bill Clinton on him being on Jeffrey Epstein’s f–king charter f–king plane,” Masvidal pondered. “Numerous times.”
Rogan helpfully supplied that Clinton had flown on the Lolita Express a total of 26 times, during his friendship with Epstein.
“That’s how you know that [Trump’s] doing something right,” Masvidal added. “The one dude that’s fighting for us, that’s actually for people. They want to crucify him.”
“But they just don’t want him president again. And they know that if he runs against Biden, Biden is so old, you know?”
Rogan said that Biden was a “goofy, old” career politician who wasn’t “impressive when he was young,” because he’s full of “bluster,” and has been in the “lying business forever.”
“And no matter what you think about his policies, you hear him talk. He’s so old. He’s so compromised,” he added.
Masvidal brought up the “China money,” Biden has “been getting for years,” while simultaneously “hooking up” Hunter with jobs, and denying the existence of his son’s laptop prior to the 2020 election.
“They suppressed it off of Twitter,” Rogan noted. “And the fact that the liberals keep saying that there’s nothing to that. Like, what are you talking about?”
“If that was Trump, if that was Trump — and Donald Trump Jr. was doing street crack with hookers in Vietnam and getting foot jobs…” he trailed off.
Masvidal reminded him that Hunter also got “$10 million dollars from [Burisma], when he’s not equipped to have those type of jobs.”
Rogan said that Biden was “getting money from China and from Ukraine,” and Masvidal pointed out that those are the same countries the president was “giving our tax dollars to.”
