Spotify’s Joe Rogan tweeted out a warning about artificial intelligence after an incredibly realistic episode of his podcast, featuring former President Donald Trump, was generated by AI without his input.
“This is going to get very slippery, kids,” Rogan replied in response to a Twitter user’s shocked post about the fake episode, which is available on YouTube.
“The Joe Rogan AI Experience” debuted on the fake series own YouTube channel on April 4. The first episode, which clocks in at 51 minutes, eerily sounds exactly like Rogan in both tone and speaking manner.
The inaugural fake podcast was created using Open AI’s groundbreaking ChatGPT, and features a conversation between the company’s CEO Sam Altman and imposter Rogan.
“Let me tell you folks, this is some next-level stuff we’ve got going on here today,” fake Rogan states in disclaimer at the beginning episode.
“Every single word of this podcast has been generated with the help of ChatGPT … I am not the real Joe Rogan and the guest is not the people they portray, this is purely fiction.”
Fake Rogan also notes that the AI generated podcast is just for fun, and cautions viewers to avoid “making little clips” for their TikTok channels to try to “make the world believe I said something I never said.”
False Rogan and Altman talked about a variety of topics concerning artificial intelligence, including the ethical issues around the technology, the future of the industry, and if AI will take jobs from American workers.
In the second episode of the AI podcast, which came out on Tuesday, fake Rogan and a false version of former President Donald Trump had an entire conversation about the lost city of Atlantis.
“I think it’s all very interesting,” AI Trump said. “But let me tell you this, I’m a very practical guy. I’m focused on the here and now and making America great again.”
“I don’t have time to speculate about ancient civilizations,” he continued. “That’s for the historians and the scientists.”
“I will say this,” fake Trump concluded. “If there was an ancient civilization that was as advanced as some people say, than that just goes to show how great America is and how much we have to offer the world.”
In another segment, fake Rogan asked what the first thing false Trump would do when he got back into the White House.
“It’s going to be tremendous, the first thing we’re going to do is put America first,” fake Trump asserted. “We’re going to make this country the greatest it’s ever been.”
“We’re going to create jobs, we’re going to build the wall, we’re going to take care of our veterans. It’s going to be unbelievable.”
When asked what the first executive order he’d sign once retaking the Oval Office, fake Trump said the it was “going to be big league.”
We’re going to bring back the economy. It’s going to be stronger than ever,” AI Trump detailed.
“We’re going to get rid of all the bad trade deals. We’re going to create new ones that are fantastic. The country is going to going to be thriving.”
Fake Rogan then pivoted to questioning how Trump would build the Southern border wall.
“It’s going to be done quickly and it’s going to be a beautiful wall,” AI Trump began. “It’s going to be a tremendous wall and Mexico is going to pay for it one way or another.”
He said that the wall would be “great” for Mexico as well, because it was going to stifle the drug trade and soaring crime rates.
When Rogan questioned how the border wall would solve Mexico’s “drug issue,” AI Trump said that the structure would be a crime deterrent.
“It sends a message to the bad Hombres out there, that they’re not going to get away with it anymore,” he noted.
“It’s already working, we’ve already seen a tremendous decrease in illegal immigration since we stared building the wall, and when we finish its going to be tremendous.”
The YouTube channel warned that the use of AI technology to generate the podcast was “intended as an exploration of the capabilities of language models and should not be misconstrued as a genuine conversation between the individuals depicted.”
The Twitter influencer who alerted the real Rogan to the post was not convinced by the podcast’s disclaimer.
“AI is going to f–king kill us all if w are not careful,” Farzad Mesbahi commented on his own post.
“Please talk to your government officials about this,” he urged. “This is version one. Imagine in 1 year. 5 years. 10 years.”
