Drea de Matteo, who starred alongside James Gandolfini in HBO’s “The Sopranos,” regrets voting for President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
In a recent interview with podcast host Megyn Kelly, she explained how her lack of political acumen led her to vote for the Biden/Harris ticket.
“I never voted in my entire life until I voted for Biden… I got swept up in the emotion of it all, which is not like me at all,” she told Kelly.
The actress explained that during the tumultuous time leading up to the 2020 election, she didn’t believe that Trump could unite the country.

“I just didn’t think he had a voice to unify people if the world was really on fire, with this whole race issue and all the stuff that was going on at the time,” she explained.
The actress ended up voting for Biden, because she viewed him as the “lesser of two evils.”
Though she did admit to being a low-key fan of the 45th president, due to where she is from.
“I’m a New Yorker, so I always loved Trump. Under the radar always loved him. I love how crass he is,” de Matteo remarked.
The “Sons of Anarchy” actress admitted that she “wasn’t paying close enough attention to understand what was really happening” during the period leading up to the election.
In hindsight, she recognizes that the media coverage “was all super divisive,” which she said was “all by design.”
De Matteo can now very clearly see how legacy media controls the information Americans are allowed to see, citing the lack of coverage Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is receiving as an independent presidential candidate.
“I think people aren’t aware of him,” she pointed out. “I feel like he’s been completely shut out by the media.”
“They don’t even know that he exists,” the “Shades of Blue” star noted.
“And people have forgotten how much people even love the Kennedys and their legacy … I feel like he is the voice of what all these old school liberals would have appreciated.”
“No one asks questions anymore,” she said about Americans. “The censorship is astounding to me…No one is paying attention to the facts.”
Though de Matteo admitted to living in “a bubble” and depending on “people that understood politics to make” decisions in the past, the pandemic era made her political leanings clear.
While the actress insists that she always has had a “more of a liberal side,” particularly when it comes to “some social issues,” she’s more “aligned” with conservatives.
“With all of the conservatives out there in the last three years, it was the only safe place to go and find some semblance of truth for me,” de Matteo told Kelly.
“I felt more aligned with a lot of the things they were talking about.”
However, she maintains that she would “never” condemn someone else for “having a different opinion on something.”
She believes that the divide between political parties in the country is widening, instead of getting better under the current leadership.
“That’s something that I couldn’t understand that was happening during the Trump administration,” de Matteo said.
“And then it got worse in my opinion during the Biden administration.”
The “Joey” star blames liberals for “condemning” people with differing opinions than their own.
“I really do think that the left is way more just angry and they’re supposed to be the hippies and the the people that really do care about equality and inclusivity,” she commented.
“Then all of a sudden they are the ones shutting everything down, shutting everyone out, condemning freedom of speech, condemning everything.”
