Comedian Bill Maher doesn’t have a problem with abortion being “murder,” because “there’s eight billion people in the world.”
During the Friday night broadcast of HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher,” he discussed the topic with guests Piers Morgan and Gillian Tett.
Maher said that pro-lifers are “kind of” right about abortion being “murder,” and explained why he’s “just okay with that.”
The conversation began with criticism of how former President Donald Trump veered away from the course of GOP lawmakers, when he made it clear that he would not support federal abortion legislation.
Bill Maher openly admits the Left's real position on abortion:
"They think it's murder. And it kind of is. And I'm just okay with that. I am. There's 8 billion people in the world. I'm sorry, we won't miss you. That's my position on that." pic.twitter.com/ZCV5SwUZu1

“My view is now that we have abortion where everyone wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both,” he said in a video posted to Truth Social last week. “And whatever they decide must be the law of the land.”
Trump also commented that Arizona “went to far” by reverting to an 1864 law that effectively bans abortion in the state.
Maher said that Trump’s position could alienate his supporters, and noted that the activation of the more than a century-old law will mean that the swing state will ‘definitely be in play’ for Democrat lawmakers in the upcoming elections.
“Can he lie his way out of this?” Maher asked about Trump. “A lot of people think it’s murder.”
“That’s why I don’t understand the 15-week thing, or Trump’s plan is, ‘Let’s leave it to the states.’ You mean, so killing babies is OK in some states?” He posited.
Shockingly, the liberal host actually defended pro-lifers and said he could appreciate their stance.
“I can respect the absolutist position,” he told the audience. “I really can. I scold the left when they say, ‘Oh, you know what, they just hate women, people who aren’t pro-choice.’ They don’t hate women. They just made that up.”
That’s when Maher shared his own position, which is firmly pro-abortion.
“They think it’s murder, and it kind of is. I’m just OK with that. I am,” he remarked. “I mean, there’s 8 billion people in the world. I’m sorry, we won’t miss you. That’s my position on it.”
During the episode, Maher said that Republican lawmakers who wanted to overturn Roe v Wade, are as clueless as “the dog that caught the car,” now that their mission has been accomplished.
“For 50 years, they talked about getting rid of abortion,” he commented about the GOP. “They did it and it’s super unpopular, and now they have to basically lie.”
Morgan said that the abortion issue was essentially a “massive banana” peel on the ground for Republicans and he could “understand” Trump’s new messaging.
“He did it in 2016 to get the Evangelicals with him. He said, ‘I’m gonna pack the court, I’m gonna get this done and overturn Roe v. Wade.’ So they all came with him, and I think now he thinks he’s got them,’ Morgan remarked.
“I don’t support what he’s doing, but I do understand the political reasons he’s doing it, and I think he could be quite effective actually in neutralizing what is becoming a massive banana skin for the party,” he added.
“And I think that’s what he’s recognized and he’s getting ahead of it. I think it could work for him.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Maher blasted “extreme wokeness,” and said Americans should take a hard look at Canada to see how it could turn out poorly.

He pointed out that while liberals should take note of what other progressive countries were doing well, they should also acknowledge their flawed policies.
“They say in politics liberals are the gas pedal and conservatives are the brakes. And I’m generally with the gas pedal. But not if we’re driving off a cliff,” the comedian began.
“Canada was where every woke White college kid wearing pajama pants outdoors who had it up to here with America’s racist patriarchy dreamt of living someday. I mean, besides Gaza,” he joked.
Maher noted that Canada’s unemployment rate at 6.1% is staggeringly higher than the United States’ 3.8%.
“There’s only one problem with thinking everything’s better in Canada: It’s not. Not anymore, anyway,” he continued.
“The median price of a home here is $346,000. In Canada converted to US dollars, it’s 487 (thousand),” Maher said as an example.
“If Barbie moved to Winnipeg, she wouldn’t be able to afford her dream house and Ken would be working at Tim Hortons,” he quipped.
