Late night host Bill Maher thinks that President Joe Biden only agreed to debate former President Donald Trump because he’s aware of his declining poll numbers and urged Democrats to “switch out” to a younger candidate.
On Wednesday, the president issued a challenge for Trump, who immediately accepted, to meet him in two debates before the election scheduled for June 27 and September 10.
The Real Time host argued that Biden’s willingness to debate, something Trump has been taunting him to do throughout the campaign, stems from his negative polling.
Recent polls now suggest Trump is set to secure a clear victory in the upcoming election.
Bill Maher on the Biden-Trump Presidential debates:
"It says that Biden knows he's losing. Only the loser wants to debate."

“To me, it says Biden knows he’s losing because otherwise he wouldn’t have agreed,” Maher remarked. “Only the loser wants to debate.”
“I think the guy who has more to prove is Biden. Trump is a known commodity. They know he’s gonna be an a**hole,” he added.
“He’s gonna be lurking and growling and not obeying the rules and everything else,” the HBO host said about Trump. “But Biden, they want to see proof of life.”
Maher reiterated that Biden appears to have no chance of winning, with his poll numbers looking bleak six months ahead of the election.
“I feel like we have turned a corner though. Like after the last election, it was ‘Trump is finished.’ And then a year later was ‘Well, he’s not going away,'” he continued.
“And then it was ‘Uh oh, he could win again.’ And now it seems like the consensus is almost Biden can’t win,” Maher said about the reversal.
“And he is losing in all the swing states I think except Wisconsin and by bigger and bigger numbers.”
That’s when Maher posited that Democrats might fare better if they persuade Biden to step down in favor of a younger candidate. “Is it too late to switch out?” he asked.
“Because in these swing states where Biden is losing, it’s interesting,” Maher said about the polls. “The Democratic Senate candidate is not losing.”
He noted that it’s not the party that’s losing, it’s Biden, who he suggested that American’s don’t “see him as the guy,” regardless of any actions he takes.
“He has plenty of victories,” he concluded. “It doesn’t seem to ever move the needle, but the Democrats will have to get off their keister now. Now!”
In another segment, Maher criticized the U.S. medical establishment for being “afraid” to admit that advocating for transgender procedures for minors was not the right call.
Maher discussed a landmark study published in March in the U.K. by Dr. Hillary Cass, which found that minors should not receive transgender treatments.

Following the study, England’s National Health Service (NHS) permanently banned the use of puberty blockers for minors.
Maher pointed out that countries in Europe are much more advanced than the U.S. in addressing the issue of transgenderism in minors.
“This is so symbolic of so much of woke excess — by thinking you’re so progressive, you’re actually behind,” he commented.
He read Cass’s conclusion on air, which fount that there is “no good evidence” that medical intervention has the ability to “manage gender-related stress” in children.
“For most young people, a medical pathway will not be the best way,” Cass wrote. “There’s no clear evidence that social transition in childhood has any positive or negative mental health outcomes.”
Maher noted that while the United States is “trying to be so far ahead,” they’ve surpassed England and Europe’s Scandinavian countries, who have all “pulled back” already on the issue.
“To me, this says a lot about where we went and hopefully we’re getting back to someplace sane, because yes, I don’t think we should be doing medical interventions on kids before they can figure out who they are,” Maher added.
He also defended Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker for his controversial commencement speech at a Christian college, which has made him a target for liberals.
A Change.org petition urging the Chief’s to fire Butker for his “sexist, homophobic, anti-trans, anti-abortion and racist” speech has over 218,000 signatures.
The left seems particularly incensed that when he was speaking to the women graduates in the audience, Butker said that while they would “go on to lead successful careers,” what he believes that they will ultimately be “most excited about” is their marriage and children.
“I don’t see what the big crime is, I really don’t. And I think this is part of the problem people have with the left is that lots of people in this country are like this,” Maher stated.
“He’s saying, some of you may go on to lead successful careers, but a lot of you are excited about this other way that people — everybody used to be, and now can’t that just be a choice too?” he continued.
they feel very put upon, like, there’s only one way to be a good person, and that’s to get an advanced degree from one of those a**hole factories like Harvard.”
