Former President Donald Trump lambasted actor George Clooney on Wednesday evening, accusing him of turning on President Joe Biden by calling on him to withdraw from the upcoming election.
The former “E.R.” star piled on with an increasing number of turncoat Hollywood Democrats in an opinion piece published by The New York Times, calling for Biden to step aside after his exceedingly lackluster performance in the June 27 debate against Trump.
While a small number of Democratic lawmakers have also publicly called for Biden’s exit, the President has to date maintained that he plans to continue his campaign.
In a surprising twist, it was Trump who came to Biden’s defense in reaction Clooney’s article, posting a fiery rebuke on his Truth Social platform.

He torched Clooney for “getting into the act,” labeling him a “fake movie actor” who “never came close to making a great movie.”
“He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are,” Trump wrote on Wednesday. “What does Clooney know about anything?”
“He uses the Democrat ‘talking point’ that Biden, the WORST President in the history of the United States, has ‘saved our Democracy,'” the presumptive Republican nominee continued.
With George Clooney publicly asking for Biden to step down, will he pay back the $30 million to the donors he conned into giving Joe just 3 weeks ago?

“Crooked Joe Biden didn’t save our Democracy; he brought our Democracy to its knees,” Trump hissed.
“Clooney should get out of politics and go back to television. Movies never really worked for him!!!”

The “Ocean’s Eleven” star, who co-hosted a huge fundraiser for Biden a few weeks ago, wrote that Biden’s ability to serve as president has declined because of his advanced age.
He pointed out Biden’s poor debate performance and predicted that Democrats would lose across the board to Republicans if Biden stays in the race.
“I love Joe Biden,” Clooney wrote. “But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can. It’s devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe ‘big F-ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate.”
FUN FACT: George Clooney is not a hero for admitting that Biden was cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs at a Fundraiser THREE weeks ago. He’s a scumbag for imperiling our country and trying to hide it from the world until he no longer could.

He blasted Democrat leaders for telling the 51 million people who watched the debate that they “didn’t see” what they witnessed live on television.
“We’re all so terrified by the prospect of a second Trump term that we’ve opted to ignore every warning sign,” he cautioned.
“We are not going to win in November with this president,” Clooney continued. “This isn’t only my opinion; this is the opinion of every senator and Congress member and governor who I’ve spoken with in private. Every single one, irrespective of what he or she is saying publicly.”
Clooney went on to explain the bright side of having a limited election cycle with a different candidate, suggesting it would give Democrats a chance to “showcase the future” without facing extensive opposition research and negative campaigning that is inherent in long election seasons.
“Would it be messy?” Clooney asked. “Yes. Democracy is messy. But would it enliven our party and wake up voters who, long before the June debate, had already checked out? It sure would.”
Clooney gave Biden a nice send off after trying to tank his political career. “Joe Biden is a hero; he saved democracy in 2020. We need him to do it again in 2024,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the Biden-Harris campaign partially attributed Clooney’s op-ed to heightened emotions over the Gaza conflict.
A source close to the campaign told TheWrap, “There were pre-existing tensions with Clooney. See the call on Gaza,” and claimed that “the president had literally just gotten off the plane from G7” right before Clooney’s June 15 fundraiser, which was so jam-packed that those who traveled with the president “complained about exhaustion and the grueling pace.”
Clooney reportedly contacted a senior White House official after Biden criticized the International Criminal Court (ICC) for issuing arrest warrants for leaders from Israel and Hamas.
Clooney’s wife, Amal Clooney, is part of the U.K.-based legal team that applied for the warrants.
“The ICC prosecutor’s application for arrest warrants against Israeli leaders is outrageous,” Biden said in a statement on May 20.
“And let me be clear: whatever this prosecutor might imply, there is no equivalence—none—between Israel and Hamas,” he added.
The Biden-Harris campaign officially responded with an official statement of their own on Wednesday, taking a shot at the “Three Kings” star for his brief appearance at the Los Angeles fundraiser.
“The President stayed for over three hours, while Clooney took a photo quickly and left,” team Biden told The New York Times.
My friend George Clooney has clearly expressed what many of us have been saying. We love and respect Joe Biden. We acknowledge all he has done for our country. But Democracy is facing an existential threat. We need someone younger to fight back. Joe Biden must step aside.…

Clooney isn’t the only former Biden backer to call for the president to step aside. “Stand By Me” director Rob Reiner stood firmly by the Hollywood A-lister in a social media post on Wednesday.
“My friend George Clooney has clearly expressed what many of us have been saying,” he tweeted.
“We love and respect Joe Biden. We acknowledge all he has done for our country. But Democracy is facing an existential threat. We need someone younger to fight back. Joe Biden must step aside.”
