The Foo Fighters faced backlash on social media after falsely accusing former President Donald Trump of using their song without permission.
Despite the band’s claims, Trump reportedly had the legal right to play the 1997 hit “My Hero” during his rally in Glendale, Arizona, on Friday.
The Trump campaign confirmed they had licensed the song through BMI’s Songview service.
“We have a license to play the song,” a Trump campaign spokesperson informed the Independent.

The publication also reported seeing documents that verified the song’s licensing through BMI’s Songview service.
Contrary to this, Foo Fighters asserted that the Trump campaign didn’t have authorization to play “My Hero” at the rally.
The song was blasted when former Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. endorsed Trump at the Arizona rally on Friday after exiting the race.

“Let us be clear,” the Foo Fighters tweeted, including a screenshot where they replied “No” to a user who asked if they allowed Trump to use their song “My Hero” for welcoming RFK Jr. on stage.
The band’s spokesperson told Billboard on Friday that they were not asked for permission and “would not have granted it” if requested.
The spokesperson noted that “appropriate actions were being taken” against the Trump campaign.
Furthermore, the spokesperson announced that any royalties from the song’s usage would be forwarded to the Harris/Walz campaign as a donation.
HOLY SH*T 🚨 The Foo Fighters lied about Trump not having permission to use “My Hero” with RFK
Donald Trump should sue this piece of sh*t band into oblivion. HE ACTUALLY HAD PERMISSION

Interestingly, the band did not address the contradiction of receiving royalties for a song they claimed was used without permission.
“Foo Fighters LIED about Trump not having permission to use ‘My Hero’ while introducing RFK Jr.,” podcast host Nick Sortor tweeted.
“Trump should SUE these leftist hacks for defamation.”
“The Foo Fighters don’t even realize they sold the rights to their music to BMI,” someone pointed out.
“Foo Fighter’s so dumb they forgot they don’t own their songs,” another remarked.
Meanwhile, Green Day’s frontman Billie Joe Armstrong whined about his frustration with political divisiveness during a concert in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Thursday night.
He declared the show was “no political party” despite earlier crooning, “I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda” during his recently updated version of “American Idiot.”
Less than an hour into the performance, Armstrong howled about being tired of algorithms and divisiveness, calling for unity by saying, “This is f**king America, man!”

He then encouraged the audience to enjoy the concert, which he claimed wasn’t about politics.
“This is not no political party, this is no party at all!” Armstrong declared before asserting that the event was a celebration.
Recently, Armstrong threw what appeared to be a rubber Trump head into the crowd during a Washington, D.C. concert, only weeks after the 45th president survived an assassination attempt.
In other music-related political updates, Courtney Kramer, a Republican candidate for District Attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, promised to end the prosecution of rapper Young Thug by DA Fani Willis, if elected.
Young Thug, born Jeffery Williams, has been jailed for two years on RICO charges. His trial, which began in November 2023, is now the longest trial in Georgia’s history.
The rapper was arrested in May 2022 alongside 27 others, all accused of violating Georgia’s RICO statutes and street gang activities.
Kramer aims to halt the prosecution and free Young Thug if she is able take the District Attorney’s office from Willis.

In a campaign letter shared on social media, she accused Willis of seeking fame by taking on the case and promised to end the prosecution if elected, aiming to restore justice and integrity to the District Attorney’s Office.
“If I am elected as the next District Attorney of Fulton County, I promise to end this prosecution immediately,” Kramer penned.
“I challenge my opponent [Fani Willis] to do the same thing, the right thing, and end this prosecution and release the accused in this case who are being held without bond.”
