Vivian Kubrick, daughter of the iconic director Stanley Kubrick, voiced her support for former President Donald Trump, after he used scenes from “Full Metal Jacket” in a video criticizing the “woke” U.S. military.
At a campaign rally, Trump showcased clips from the Stanley Kubrick directed antiwar film.
The scene featured actor R. Lee Ermey’s portrayal of the unyielding Drill Sgt. Hartman, juxtaposed with images of drag queens and other elements Trump associates with a modern “woke” military.
The video, shared to social media by Trump’s X account, went wildly viral with over 35 million views in less than three days.

It begins with the black and white footage of soldiers marching in formation, with the text: “America’s Military: President Donald J. Trump Vs. Comrade Kamala Harris,” superimposed over the soldiers.
The video cuts to Sgt. Hartman socking a recruit (Matthew Modine) in the stomach, calling him as a “little scumbag,” and letting the man know what kind of hellish conditions he’s in for during boot camp.
The scene then shifts to a transgender Biden administration figure and Army physician, Rachel Levine, delivering a “happy pride month” message.
The montage includes clips of Ermey demeaning recruits to break them down to mold them into hardened soldiers, inter-cut with videos of men in drag dancing to electronica music.
“You will be a weapon, you will be a minister of death trained for war, but until that day, you are pukes,” Hartman tells a line of recruits.
The next clip is from a TikTok video of a U.S. soldier transforming from his uniform and clean-cut army look to full on drag in a dress, wig, and make-up.
TO THOSE WHO THINK MY FATHER WOULDN’T HAVE WANTED #TRUMP TO USE FMJ FOOTAGE
Here are my thoughts: I agree in principle that an anti-war movie is incongruous with promoting the idea of a tough non-woke US military and thus war itself – however – these are very dangerous and… https://t.co/0bSXz8nL3V

The video concludes with Hartman leading the recruits through a run in formation, while they chant, “I love working for Uncle Sam,” along with a call to “Make our military great again.”
Kubrick tweeted a lengthy response to “TO THOSE WHO THINK MY FATHER WOULDN’T HAVE WANTED #TRUMP TO USE FMJ FOOTAGE,” using an abbreviation for the film’s title.
Though she noted that the video started off by noting that using film to promote the “idea of a tough non-woke US military,” conflicting with the movie’s antiwar messaging, Kubrick still agreed with Trump’s choice to use the footage.
“These are very dangerous and strange times and thus using this footage is doubtless pure expedience,” she noted.
“Because I’m sure the irony of using FMJ footage is not lost on Trump or his team – Trump is always seeking to end wars and use peaceful methods.”
She pointed out that Trump’s video was a “realistic portrayal of boot camp, juxtaposed with the entirely demoralizing and inappropriate injection of WOKE ideology into the USA military.”
Kubrick confidently stated that her father, who also directed “The Shining” and “A Clockwork Orange,” would have agreed with Trump’s usage of “Full Metal Jacket.”
“Truthfully, I believe my father (who supported Reagan), would very much approve of saving America, indeed the world, from the highly destructive Globalist forces threatening to take over this planet,” Kubrick penned.
She suggested that if the film clips helped Trump convey the message that the U.S. military requires “properly trained, super tough, focused, dedicated warriors,” without the “demoralizing effects of woke-ism,” then he has her blessing.
Kubrick also reminisced about her father’s passion for firearms, noting he owned “quite a few,” for the purposes of self-defense.
She tagged several prominent figures in her post, including conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, members of the Trump family, and former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn.
“My father had a great respect for life – his movies being unimpeachable evidence of his love for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness!” she concluded.
“So on that basis, I feel very confident he would be a Trump supporter and would forgive using FMJ incongruously, if it helps the cause of freedom!”
