Mel Gibson is backing Donald Trump in the upcoming election, calling Kamala Harris as smart as a piece of wood.
At LAX on Thursday, the Braveheart actor chuckled when asked about his 2024 voting plans.
“Oh man, that’s a big question,” he said to a TMZ paparazzi. “I don’t think it’s gonna surprise anyone who I vote for.”
He hinted that Trump was indeed his choice, adding a jab at Harris, saying that he knew “what it’d be like if we let her in.”

“That ain’t good—miserable track record, appalling track record, no policies to speak of, and she’s got the IQ of a fence post,” he remarked.
Gibson’s been a critic of both Democrats and Republicans over the years.
The 68-year-old star dubbed Bill Clinton a “low-level opportunist” in the ’90s and was outspoken against George W. Bush in the 2000s.
In 2016, however, he abstained from voting for either Trump or Hillary Clinton.
In 2021, Gibson seemed to have a change of heart, when he gave a salute to Trump at a UFC match between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor.
The actor has faced a storm of criticism due to anti-Semitic remarks in the latter part of his career.
Back in 2006, during an arrest in Malibu, Gibson made antisemitic comments that effectively suspended his career.
He eventually apologized, stating there was “no excuse” for his actions, especially regretting his words directed at the Jewish community.
In a 2016 interview with Variety, Gibson claimed his offensive words were “recorded illegally by an unscrupulous police officer” during his arrest.
He said, “Ten years have gone by. I’m feeling good. I’m sober, all of that kind of stuff, and for me it’s a dim thing in the past.”
However, he admitted annoyance that others still brought it up a decade later, questioning why it remained an issue.
The “Lethal Weapon” actor claimed that he doesn’t discriminate and argued he shouldn’t be judged for inappropriate comments made under the influence of alcohol.
Gibson’s critical take on Harris came shortly after fellow actor Andrew Garfield, 41, backed the actor during a People magazine interview.
Garfield, who worked under Gibson’s direction in the 2016 film “Hacksaw Ridge,” said he learned from Gibson that “people deserve second chances, third chances, fourth chances. None of us are infallible.”
Garfield, who is Jewish, said he engaged in “deep, important conversations” with Gibson during the film.
“He’s done a lot of beautiful healing with himself…he’s an amazing filmmaker, and I think he deserves to make films,” the “Spider-man” star added.
“He deserves to tell stories because he has a very, very big, compassionate heart,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris, noting they share a common favorite curse word.
Though Jackson didn’t actually say the expletive while campaigning for Harris at a rally in Clarkston, Georgia, he hinted enough of the letters for fans to guess.
“We’ve heard her favorite curse word is a favorite of mine too,” Jackson revealed. “But I ain’t gonna say mothafu – that word.”
“I don’t know about you, but that’s the kinda president I can stand behind,” he continued.
“That’s the kinda president I could see leading our country forward,” he said of Harris.
Jackson joined other celebrities rallying for Harris at the event, which filmmaker Tyler Perry, director Spike Lee, and singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen.
