The fatal shooting of two Israeli Embassy employees in Washington, D.C., has ignited fierce backlash from Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who pinned responsibility squarely on far-left politicians, college administrators, and social media influencers who he says have fostered an antisemitic environment.
The victims, identified as Yaron Lischinsky, an Israeli citizen, and Sarah Milgrim, an American, were reportedly a young couple on the verge of engagement, according to Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter.
The pair were gunned down outside the Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday evening.
Elias Rodriguez, 31, was arrested at the scene. Witnesses and law enforcement say he shouted “free Palestine” during his arrest.

Portnoy, a staunch supporter of Israel and vocal critic of antisemitism, made a scathing post about the tragic event on X.
“A domestic terrorist went hunting Jews last night in Wash DC open firing outside a Jewish event killing 2 Jews. The terrorist Elias Rodriguez yelled ‘Free Palestine’ as he got arrested,” the post began.
“This type of tragedy is the natural progression of events when the morons running our colleges, far left politicians, and hate merchants on social media continue to normalize and seemingly encourage anti semitism in this country,” he added.

Portnoy also referenced allegations about Rodriguez’s background, some of which remain unverified.
“The least surprising part about this tragedy is that the killer hated America long before the conflict in the Middle East,” he wrote, accusing Rodriguez of being involved with radical political groups.

“He was a serial agitator as so many of the Free Palestine movement are,” Portnoy continued. “For them this isn’t just about the war in Gaza.”
“This is about hating America and our way of life,” he pointed out. “And the more that antisemitism is normalized in this country the more it emboldens these lunatics to commit these heinous acts.”
“The bottom line is that nobody in this country should be intimidated or fear for their safety because of their religion but here we are,” Portnoy concluded.
President Donald Trump has targeted pro-Palestinian activism on American campuses since taking office, threatening to cut federal funding and revoke visas for students with alleged ties to extremist groups.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt delivered a statement from the President during Thursday’s press briefing.
“President Trump is saddened and outraged over the brutal murder of two Israeli Embassy staff here in Washington, D.C., last night,” Leavitt said.

“Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim were a beautiful young couple,” she added. “In fact, we learned that Yaron was planing to propose to Sarah next week in Jerusalem.”
Quoting Lischinsky’s father, Daniel, Leavitt shared, “They were in love, one for the other… I never expected something like this. He had his whole life before him.”
“The evil of antisemitism must be eradicated from our society,” she said. “Everyone here at the White House is praying for the victims’ friends and family during this unimaginable time.”
Leavitt confirmed that Attorney General Pam Bondi had been briefed and vowed to ensure justice, stating that the suspect “would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
FBI Director Kash Patel called the killings an “act of terror” and said federal agencies are fully engaged.
“Last night’s act of terror has the full attention of the FBI,” Patel posted on X. “Targeted anti-Semitic violence is an attack on our core values and will be met with the full weight of federal law enforcement.”

Early Thursday, FBI agents searched Rodriguez’s Chicago residence. While details from the raid have not been released, authorities are investigating Rodriguez’s affiliations and political writings.
Rodriguez previously worked for the American Osteopathic Information Association and is believed to have ties to the far-left Party for Socialism and Liberation.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and once contributed to the History Makers, a nonprofit archiving stories from African American figures.
Authorities are reviewing the authenticity of a lengthy manifesto allegedly authored by Rodriguez.
The 900-page document, published online by journalist Ken Klippenstein, reportedly condemns Israel’s military actions in Gaza as a “genocide” and claims that “the perpetrators and abettors have forfeited their humanity.”
Dan Bongino, deputy director of the FBI, confirmed that investigators are assessing the manifesto.
“The FBI is aware of certain writings allegedly authored by the suspect, and we hope to have updates as to the authenticity very soon,” Bongino said.
“The subject is in custody and interviewed last night at approximately 1am,” Bongino added. “As our [Washington Field Office] said, the FBI believes there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time.”
“At the same time, I want the public to be assured we are following up on any additional leads to ensure we do our complete and total due diligence on this,” he noted.
Calls for a thorough investigation came in rapidly from Capitol Hill. Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) issued a letter to Bondi and Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser.
“As members of the Jewish community gathered in our nation’s capital this week from all over the world, their worst fears became reality,” Moreno wrote.
“Last night, this young couple, with the rest of their lives in front of them, was gunned down by a terrorist screaming ‘Free Palestine,’” he added.
He urged swift government action: “The violence against Jews must stop.”
“In light of this horrific attack, I respectfully request you immediately launch an investigation into this hate crime and act of domestic terrorism,” Moreno said.
“The city of Washington D.C. must also conduct a full review of the security failures that allowed this terrorist attack to happen.”
