Vice President JD Vance tore into Jon Favreau after the Marvel star tried to undercut his response to the deadly ICE shooting in Texas.
A lone gunman killed one ICE detainee and critically injured two others at a facility in Dallas, before taking his own life.
The Vice President reacted to the violence by writing on social media, “The obsessive attack on law enforcement, particularly ICE, must stop. I’m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families.”
His statement quickly drew pushback from Favreau, now host of the liberal podcast “Pod Save America.”

The “Iron Man” director accused Vance of spreading inaccurate information. “The Vice President is not a reliable source of information,” Favreau wrote online.
“This is now the fifth or sixth time he’s posted a political take contradicted by facts from his own law enforcement agencies.”
Attached to Favreau’s post was an X community note claiming: “According to an ICE spokesperson, the three individuals shot were ICE detainees, leaving two individuals dead and one injured.”

“No law enforcement were injured in this shooting, according to law enforcement and news reports out of Dallas, Texas,” the note read.
The Vice President clapped, pointing to details from the crime scene. “The gunman had anti-ICE messaging carved on the bullets he used,” Vance replied. “What, precisely, did I get wrong, dips–t?”

Favreau fired off a lengthy rebuttal, insisting Vance misled his audience. “I think the suggested context in the community note says it all, Mr. Vice President.”
“Not sure why it’s so difficult to give people the full story: detainees were murdered by a sniper, and ‘anti-ICE’ was found on a bullet,” the former Obama aide wrote.
He then rattled off multiple examples where he alleged Vance had previously twisted facts.
“This seems to happen quite a bit with you,” Favreau ranted, citing four separate instances where the Vice President’s posts were flagged, ranging from comments about George Soros to references about MS-13 and court documents.

He ended by saying, “I could go on, but you get the point. Have a blessed day.”
While the online spat raged, officials in Washington were already reacting to the attack.
DHS announced new security measures at ICE facilities across the country.
“In light of today’s horrific shooting that was motivated by hatred for ICE and the other unprecedented acts of violence against ICE law enforcement, including bomb threats, cars being used a weapons, rocks and Molotov cocktails thrown at officers, and doxing online of officers families, DHS will immediately begin increasing security at ICE facilities across the country,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said.

McLaughlin noted that ICE officers are “facing a more than 1000 percent increase in assaults against them.”
Authorities identified the gunman as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn of Collin County, Texas.
He opened fire on Wednesday at an ICE field office in Dallas, killing one detainee and leaving two others critically injured. Jahn died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Bullet casings with anti-ICE messages were recovered at the scene, and officials are investigating the incident as targeted political violence.
McLaughlin warned about what she called dangerous rhetoric. “For months, we’ve been warning politicians and the media to tone down their rhetoric about ICE law enforcement before someone was killed,” she wrote.
“This shooting must serve as a wake-up call to the far-left that their rhetoric about ICE has consequences,” McLaughlin stated.
“Comparing ICE day-in and day-out to the Nazi Gestapo, the Secret Police, and slave patrols has consequences.”
McLaughlin reminded her followers that members of ICE are fellow humans, not just law enforcement agents.
“The men and women of ICE are fathers and mothers, sons and daughters. They get up every morning to try and make our communities safer,” she posted.
“Like everyone else, we just want to go home to our families at night. The violence and dehumanization of these men and women who are simply enforcing the law must stop.”
President Trump also weighed in, putting the blame of the shooting squarely on Democrats.
“The Brave Men and Women of ICE are just trying to do their jobs, and remove the ‘WORST of the WORST’ Criminals out of our Country, but they are facing an unprecedented increase in threats, violence, and attacks by Deranged Radical Leftists,” Trump said on Truth Social.
"I have been briefed on the deadly shooting at the ICE Field Office in Dallas, Texas. It has now been revealed the deranged shooter wrote “Anti-ICE” on his shell casings… I AM CALLING ON ALL DEMOCRATS TO STOP THIS RHETORIC AGAINST ICE & AMERICA’S LAW ENFORCEMENT." – @POTUS pic.twitter.com/VdC0y9biYA

Texas Senator Ted Cruz blasted Democratic politicians for “demonizing” ICE and creating an environment where agents and their families were being targeted.
“This needs to stop. Violence is wrong. Politically motivated violence is wrong. It was two weeks ago today that we saw a political assassination in Utah that tore the heart out of much of this country,” he remarked in reference to the slaying of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk.
Cruz made his plea directly to politicians who fan the flames of discontent by sniping at others across the aisle.
“This is the third shooting in Texas directed at ICE or CBP. This must stop. To every politician who is using rhetoric demonizing ICE and demonizing CBP, stop!”

“To every politician demanding that ICE agents be doxed and calling for people to go after their families, stop! This has very real consequences,” he pointed out.
“Look, in America we disagree, that’s fine, that is the democratic process, but your political opponents are not Nazis!”
Cruz thanked ICE and CBP agents for putting their lives on the line to protect Americans.
“We need to learn to work together without demonizing each other, without attacking each other,” he wrote.
“And I want to say thank you. I want to say thank you to the brave men and women of law enforcement.”
