The White House clapped back at pop star Ariana Grande for taking to social media to attack President Donald Trump’s supporters.
Grande, who supported Kamala Harris in 2024 and Bernie Sanders in 2020, shared a post from podcast host Matt Bernstein asking if Americans felt better off since Trump’s second term began.
“It’s been 250 days,” the post read, before launching into a list of grievances against the administration, including the treatment of immigrants and transgender people, as well as claims about free speech being under threat.
The post asked Trump backers directly, “Has your life gotten better? Have your groceries gotten cheaper? Has your health insurance premium gone down? Has your work/life balance improved? Can you take a vacation yet? Are you happier?”

It concluded by asking if “the widespread suffering of others paid off for you in the way he promised it would, or are you still waiting?”
The singer’s criticism of Trump drew barbed jabs at her past scandals and generalized celebrity cluelessness from the internet.
Detractors resurfaced her infamous 2015 scandal when she was caught on video licking donuts at a California bakery while declaring, “I hate Americans. I hate America.”

“Isn’t she the same person who said she hates America while sneaking a lick on a donut in a shop, causing the health dept to reprimand a small business?” One commenter wrote.
“I happened to be in that area and spoke to the owner right after. She almost ruined that business.”
“Less crime, improved resources, return to the constitution. I am much happier. Coming from a family of legal immigrants, they are happier, too,” someone else shot back.

“Well, ignorance is bliss in the little world of the wealthy,” another added.
The harshest criticism of Grande’s post came from the White House, in a stinging rebuke that used her own hits against her.
In comments shared with Entertainment Weekly, White House Deputy Press Secretary Kush Desai issued a scathing response to Ariana Grande, cleverly weaving in several of her hit songs to make his case.
Desai referenced tracks such as “Save Your Tears,” “Just Like Magic,” and “Get Well Soon” while addressing the pop star.
“Save your tears, Ariana. Because President Trump’s actions ended Joe Biden’s inflation crisis and are bringing in trillions in new investment,” Desai stated.
“He even signed an executive order just like magic that paved the way for the FTC to crack down on Ticketmaster for ripping off Ariana Grande’s concert-going fans. Get well soon, Ariana!”
The spokesman was alluding to recent steps taken by the Federal Trade Commission, which filed a lawsuit targeting Live Nation and Ticketmaster.
The complaint alleged that both companies misled fans about the true costs of resale tickets.
That case followed another action just weeks earlier against Key Investment Group and several associated businesses, including Epic Seats and Totally Tix LLC.
Regulators accused those firms of using illegal tactics to scoop up high-demand tickets and resell them at steep markups for major events.
Grande’s ties to Democratic politics have been well-documented. In 2014, she performed for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House’s “Women of Soul” concert.

A decade later, during the 2024 election cycle, she publicly supported Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
She reposted President Joe Biden’s endorsement message for Harris after his withdrawal from the race.
The “Side to Side” singer confirmed through social media that she participated in Florida’s early voting program in October 2024.

She posted a selfie on Instagram set to Beyoncé’s track Freedom, overlayed with a sticker declaring, “Your Vote Matters.”
Grande also drew attention for a subtle online jab at fellow vocalist Carrie Underwood shortly after Trump’s inauguration.
The Grammy winner “liked” a post from pop culture commentator Evan Ross Katz, which included a snapshot of Underwood singing America the Beautiful a cappella.

In the background, Vice President Kamala Harris appeared unimpressed. Katz captioned the post, “Kamala Harris evoking Coco Montrese (‘Girl, find the note’) watching Carrie Underwood at today’s chilling Inauguration,” referencing a line from RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Grande herself has taken swipes at Trump before. This past June, she circulated a photo of a protest sign that read: “Could someone explain which crimes get you deported and which ones get you elected President? It’s so confusing.”

Grande’s remarks came not long after she boosted a tweet from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez calling for Trump’s third impeachment over military action in Iran.
She has previously been vocal in supporting LGBTQIA+ rights, Palestinian causes, abortion rights, and voter registration initiatives.
