Rocker Bruce Springsteen shocked fellow liberals with latest remarks about the Democratic Party, warning that it has alienated much of the country with its far-left agenda.
The 74-year-old rocker, a cultural fixture best known for anthems like “Born to Run” and “Born in the U.S.A.,” has long been outspoken on politics, and a regular critic of President Donald Trump.
Over the years, he threw his support behind Kamala Harris in 2024, Joe Biden in 2020, Hillary Clinton in 2016, and Barack Obama in both 2008 and 2012.
But in his recent interview with Time Magazine, Springsteen voiced concerns that Democrats are out of step with working Americans.
Bruce Springsteen about Trump:
"I absolutely couldn't care less what he thinks about me. He's the living personification of what the 25th Amendment and impeachment were for. If Congress had any guts, he'd be consigned to the trash heap of history," he told Time magazine. pic.twitter.com/YxYhdKPqzM

“We’re desperately in need of an effective alternative party or for the Democratic Party to find someone who can speak to the majority of the nation,” he said, pointing to what he called a disconnect in the language Democrats use to reach voters.
The interview noted the irony the that a millionaire musician like Springsteen, adored by blue-collar audiences, is warning that his own party has drifted away from those very people.
Many of those fans, the magazine noted, have instead “flocked to Trump.”

Springsteen complained to Time that “a lot of people bought into his lies,” saying Trump only cares about himself and wealthy elites.
He added that “a good number of Americans are simply comfortable with his politics of power and dominance.”
Springsteen went on to describe Trump as “the living personification of what the 25th Amendment and impeachment were for” and suggesting Congress lacked the courage to remove him.
The feud between Springsteen and the president has been public for years. After Trump secured re-election in 2024, the rocker labeled his administration “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous.”
Trump fired back on social media, calling Springsteen “dumb as a rock” and sharing a mocking video.
Springsteen’s hostility spilled over into his music tour earlier this year. At his opening European concert in Manchester, England, he told the crowd, “The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock ‘n’ roll in dangerous times.”

He continued by claiming America is “in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration,” urging fans to raise their voices “against authoritarianism and let freedom ring.” The performance led into his song “Land of Hope and Dreams.”
Trump did not let the attack slide. In a lengthy Truth Social post, he dismissed Springsteen as “highly overrated” and “not a talented guy,” adding that he was a “pushy, obnoxious jerk” and a “dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker.”
The president blasted the musician for criticizing him abroad, writing, “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy — Just a pushy, obnoxious JERK, who fervently supported Crooked Joe Biden, a mentally incompetent FOOL, and our WORST EVER President, who came close to destroying our Country.”

Trump segued into broader attacks on Biden, writing, “If I wasn’t elected, it (the United States) would have been GONE by now!”
He doubled down, calling Springsteen “dumb as a rock” and ridiculing his appearance. The president ended by telling him to “KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country.”
Later that month, Trump trolled Springsteen with a hilarious video that shows shows the president swinging a golf club, edited alongside footage of the musician stumbling up a flight of stairs during a 2023 concert.

On Sept. 28, the liberal rocker appeared at the New York Film Festival for the debut of “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere,” a new drama featuring Jeremy Allen White of “The Bear.” The movie focuses on the making of Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska.
At the conclusion of the screening, the Springsteen joined the cast and crew on stage. To the audience’s surprise, Springsteen picked up his guitar for a stripped-down solo version of “Land of Hope and Dreams,” one of his most heartfelt ballads.
In a surprise appearance at the #nyfff premiere of his biopic, Bruce Springsteen spoke about America as “a land of hopes and dreams, not of fear or divisiveness or government censorship or hatred. That America’s worth fighting for…”

Before strumming the first notes, the singer-songwriter spoke disparagingly about the state of the country.
“These days, we have daily events reminding us of the fact that we’re living through these particularly dangerous times,” he said.
Springsteen reflected on his decades-long career, describing himself as “a musical ambassador for America,” who has tried to “measure the distance between American reality, where we’ve often fallen short of our ideals, and the American dream.”
While acknowledging the struggles Americans are currently facing, he urged optimism while speaking to the crowd.
“As bad as it feels right now, for a lot of folks out there, she continues to be a land of hope and dreams,” Springsteen told the audience.
“Not of fear or divisiveness or government censorship or hatred,” he added. “That America is worth fighting for. So it’s in that spirit, I brought along my lifelong weapon of choice: the guitar.”
As he wrapped up the impromptu performance, Springsteen encouraged those in attendance to “stay strong.”
The moment brought the audience at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center to its feet, sparking a thunderous ovation and the familiar chant of “Bruuuce!” echoing throughout the theater.
