Whoopi Goldberg stunned audiences Monday by joking that Super Bowl attendees could help fellow fans dodge federal immigration officers by wearing “Latinoface.”
“The View” moderator made the strange pitch in response to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s vow to have ICE agents at next year’s halftime show starring Latino artist Bad Bunny.
Goldberg’s pitch was made during the ABC’s daytime talk show’s Monday episode, when co-host Joy Behar’s brought up Noem’s recent comments about tightening security at the 2026 Super Bowl.
“Kristi Noem, the one who shot the puppy, she’s threatening to go to the Super Bowl when Bad Bunny is there and round up all these people that are illegal immigrants,” Behar said during the broadcast.

“Do you think that she would go if it was Garth Brooks or Eminem or Taylor Swift or any other white person?”
Goldberg appeared taken aback before responding, “Let me understand what you’re saying. Because she’s going to go to the Super Bowl and round up … how is she going to know who is who?”
Behar shot back, “Because the Supreme Court has given permission to question anyone who has a Spanish accent, who has dark skin.”

Goldberg then made her now-viral suggestion to potential Super Bowl attendees.
“Here is the thing… everybody, get a little cocoa butter, sit in the sun, that’s the first thing,” she explained.
“And then — and this is the only time you can probably ever do this — give yourself a Latin accent, and see if she can tell who is who,” she added.
Her remarks drew a mix of laughter and applause from the studio audience, as Behar praised the bizarre idea.
“You know, Whoopi, that is a good idea,” she said, comparing it to World War II resistance efforts.
“During the Nazi occupation, there was one country, I believe it was Denmark or Norway, one of those, where everybody put the Jewish star on and they didn’t know who was Jewish or who was not. So what you are saying is very smart.”
The exchange was sparked by Noem’s earlier comments made in a video interview with conservative commentator Benny Johnson.
In the clip, Noem warned NFL officials that they “won’t be able to sleep at night” after booking Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny as the 2026 Super Bowl halftime performer.
Bad Bunny, whose full name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, previously announced that he had avoided performing in the U.S. this year in protest of President Trump’s immigration policies.
Noem fired back, saying that her agency would ensure federal immigration law is enforced during the highly anticipated event.
“They suck, and we’ll win, and God will bless us, and we’ll stand and be proud of ourselves at the end of the day,” Noem said during the interview.
BREAKING: DHS Secretary Kristi Noem CONFIRMS that ICE will be at the Super Bowl and enforcing at the Bad Bunny Halftime Show.

“They won’t be able to sleep at night because they don’t know what they believe, and they’re so weak, we’ll fix it.”
She went on to explain that the Department of Homeland Security has an obligation to maintain safety at the event, which will be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
“So I have the responsibility for making sure everybody goes to the Super Bowl, has the opportunity to enjoy it and to leave, and that’s what America is about,” she noted.
“We’re going to enforce the law,” Noem continued. “So I think people should not be coming to the Super Bowl unless they are law-abiding Americans who love this country.”
Trump advisor Corey Lewandowski backed up Noem’s stance, confirming that ICE officers will be on patrol in the Bay Area throughout Super Bowl weekend.
“There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally,” he said.
“Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find and deport you. That is a very real situation.”
However, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later downplayed speculation that ICE agents had an official operation planned for the game.
“As far as ICE being at the Super Bowl, as far as I’m aware there’s no tangible plan for that in store right now,” Leavitt said during a Friday press briefing.
“However, of course this administration is always going to arrest and deport illegal immigrants when we find them if they are criminals. We’re going to do the right thing by our country.”
Bad Bunny fired back at his critics in a comedic skit mocking conservative media coverage during his stint on “Saturday Night Live.”
“You might not know this but I’m doing the Super Bowl halftime show and I’m very happy and I think everyone is happy about it — even Fox News,” Bad Bunny said.

He then played a doctored video montage splicing together clips of various Fox News anchors and pundits, making it appear as though they were praising him.
“Bad Bunny is my favorite musician and he should be the next president,” the edited clip proclaimed, as the crowd erupted in laughter.
“Thank you. Wow, thank you. But really, I am very excited to be doing the Super Bowl and I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy,” the rapper continued.
Bad Bunny briefly switched to Spanish, taking aim at critics while thanking the Latino community.
“Especially all of the Latinos and Latinas in the world here in the United States who have worked to open doors,” he said.
“It’s more than a win for myself, it’s a win for all of us. Our footprints and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take that away or erase it.”
He closed the segment with a jab at non-Spanish speakers: “If you did not understand what I just said… you have four months to learn!”
Donald Trump reacts to Bad Bunny headlining the Super Bowl halftime show:
“I’ve never heard of him. I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment— I think it’s absolutely… pic.twitter.com/i5ADPqgbOP

On Monday, Trump said that the NFL’s decision to have Bad Bunny headline the Super Bowl was “crazy.”
“I never heard of him, I don’t know who he is, I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s like, crazy,” he told Newsmax.
