Former Saturday Night Live comedian Leslie Jones publicly called for all Immigration and Customs Enforcement employees to be imprisoned for doing their jobs.
Jones made the remarks during an appearance on MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace’s podcast, “The Best People,” where she spoke at length about her hopes for political change following upcoming elections and voiced anger toward federal immigration authorities.
“Girl, I’m hoping, this is what I’m hoping, that midterms, people come out and vote like crazy to switch it over, and then the reckoning comes,” Jones said, describing what she views as a necessary turning point in national politics.
She took the comment even further by calling not only for accountability but incarceration for everyone connected to ICE.

“That’s why I want all, everybody that work for ICE, I want them in jail,” Jones said, adding, “I just want a reckoning. I want a reckoning.”
“Y’all know y’all did wrong stuff. You know some of the stuff you did was so wrong. I need a reckoning,” she parroted. “Because that’s, to me, that’s the only thing that’s gonna make it right.”
Jones broadened her criticism beyond immigration enforcement, arguing that accountability should extend to others involved in shaping political discourse.

“I don’t know. It just feels like the upside down world,” she said while discussing what she sees as a lack of consequences for public figures.
She referenced online personalities and influencers, saying, “You see somebody that’s doing something completely terrible, like some of these influencers, these crazy folks, and we let them go because freedom of speech, of course, but there should be accountability.”

Wallace responded during the exchange, remarking, “Gravity, like things should fall,” as Jones agreed that consequences should follow actions.
“You can’t continue to keep doing some wrong, you know, and you’re not gonna pay for that,” Jones said.
Jones made the remarks as Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota raised allegations involving ICE agents and her family.
Omar said federal immigration agents stopped her son over the weekend and questioned his citizenship.

“Yesterday, after he made a stop at Target, he did get pulled over by ICE agents, and once he was able to produce his passport ID, they did let him go,” Omar said during an interview on WCCO Sunday Morning.
Omar added that her son “always carries” his passport and recalled a separate incident involving a mosque.
She said ICE agents entered the mosque where her son and others were praying before leaving without incident.
Afterward, Omar said she warned her son about the risks he could face. She said she told him she was concerned because “all of these areas that they are talking about are areas where he could possibly find himself in and they are racially profiling, they are looking for young men who look Somali that they think are undocumented.”
ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons disputed Omar’s account, saying the agency has “absolutely zero record of its officers or agents pulling over Congresswoman Omar’s son.” Lyons accused Omar of attempting to unfairly target federal officers.
Lyons said allegations of racial profiling were “disgusting, reckless and categorically false,” adding, “It speaks volumes that Congresswoman Omar is leveling this accusation with absolutely zero proof.”
He described Omar’s comments as a “ridiculous effort” to portray ICE negatively and said such rhetoric contributes to growing hostility toward agents.
Lyons cited a reported 1,150 percent increase in assaults and an 8,000 percent rise in death threats against ICE personnel.
ICE has absolutely ZERO record of its officers or agents pulling over Congresswoman Omar’s son.
With no evidence, it is shameful that Congresswoman Omar would level accusations to demonize ICE as part of a PR stunt.

When asked about Lyons’ comments, a spokesperson for Omar’s office defended the congresswoman’s claims.
“The congresswoman’s son and others were pulled over by ICE, racially profiled, and forced to prove their citizenship with a passport,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson added, “ICE has long operated as a rogue agency beyond reform. It’s no surprise that an agency known for disappearing people also can’t keep its records straight.”
The office said it would welcome the opportunity to review records ICE claims it maintains.

Earlier this month, federal immigration agents increased enforcement activity in the Twin Cities area, stating that the focus was on undocumented Somali immigrants.
The action followed comments by President Trump, who said he did not “want them in our country” and referred to Omar as “garbage.”
She also addressed Trump’s public remarks about her, saying it was “really disturbing and creepy to have the President of the United States be obsessed with you and those who share your ethnicity.”
Omar rejected claims Trump made at a rally in Pennsylvania that she married her brother to gain U.S. citizenship.
“Everybody knows I came to the United States at the age of 12; gained my citizenship at the age of 17,” Omar said.
Jones returned to Trump during the podcast, launching into a heated reaction over an exchange involving Bloomberg reporter Catherine Lucey.

Jones said she would have responded aggressively if addressed that way. “Let me explain something to you. I don’t understand how these people let that in,” she said, before MS NOW censored portions of her language.
“If he would have said, ‘Shut up, piggy’ to me, I’d have been like, ‘You fat mother—,’” Jones said before audio censorship cut in.
She continued after the censor delay, saying, “You wouldn’t be able to talk to me like that. ‘Who you callin’ piggy, you fat?’”
Jones questioned why others did not react more forcefully. “I mean, like, how are y’all not losing your shit like that?” she asked.
She compared reactions to Trump with hypothetical reactions to past presidents. “If [former President Barack] Obama did that, [former President Joe] Biden did that … some of the stuff, they would have dragged Obama out to the yard and executed him right there, with some of the stuff that he does,” Jones noted.
