Conservative star Nicki Minaj tore into ex-CNN anchor Don Lemon after he livestreamed anti-ICE protesters storming a Minnesota church.
The rapper erupted on X after Lemon broadcast chaotic scenes from Cities Church in St. Paul, where demonstrators disrupted a Sunday worship service to protest alleged ties between church leadership and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Lemon appeared on scene roughly 40 minutes into a hours-long livestream, to chat with activist Nekima Levy Armstrong as protesters confronted congregants inside the church.
“She has been doing this since George Floyd; Dante Wright and others where they surprise people, catch them off guard and hold them to account,” Lemon said during the broadcast.

Although Lemon later denied knowing the church would be targeted, remarks earlier in the livestream suggested awareness of the group’s destination.
“These operations are surprise operations,” Lemon remarked at the beginning of the stream. “Again, can’t tell you where they’re going and where we’re gathered right now.”
Minaj reacted hours later with a series of explosive posts attacking Lemon personally.
DON ‘COCK SUCKIN’ LEMON IS DISGUSTING.

I WANT THAT THUG IN JAIL!!!!!
HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO ANY OTHER RELIGION.

“DON ‘C**K SUCKIN’ LEMON IS DISGUSTING,” Minaj wrote in all caps about the openly gay liberal.
“HOW DARE YOU? I WANT THAT THUG IN JAIL!!!!! HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO ANY OTHER RELIGION. LOCK HIM UP!!!!!” she continued.

Lemon responded to the attack by questioning Minaj’s understanding of on-scene reporting.
“I’m not surprised Nicki Minaj does not understand journalism and is weighing in on matters that are above her capacity,” Lemon told TMZ.
He doubled down during an appearance on Monday’s “I’ve Had It Podcast,” launching his own blistering counterattack.
“Nicki Minaj is not a Christian. She knows nothing about a Christian. What she is — is a grifter,” Lemon said.
He accused the rapper of exploiting her fan base while disregarding groups she benefits from.
“Nicki Minaj doesn’t care about black people. She doesn’t care about gay people. Those are two of her biggest supporters and the people who make her rich,” Lemon continued.
Lemon distanced himself entirely from Minaj’s music and persona. “If we were in the day where we… where we bought records, I would be burning Nicki Minaj’s records today,” he said.
“So, I’m so glad that I’ve never been a Nicki Minaj fan. I don’t know her music. There’s nothing on my playlist that’s ever Nicki Minaj, and… there isn’t going to be because she is an ignorant pick me, and I choose not to pick her,” Lemon remarked.
The online feud followed the disruptive protest that halted services at Cities Church, where demonstrators shouted demands for “ICE out” and accused a senior church leader of cooperating with federal immigration authorities.
The confrontation quickly unraveled as worshippers were harassed, prompting several congregants to leave the religious sanctuary in anger.
Federal officials condemned the incident and warned of legal consequences.
Attorney General Pam Bondi said Sunday she spoke directly with the church’s pastor and pledged federal action if necessary.
“If state leaders refuse to act responsibly to prevent lawlessness, this Department of Justice will remain mobilized to prosecute federal crimes and ensure that the rule of law prevails,” Bondi commented.
Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon confirmed protesters would be reviewed under the FACE Act.
“A house of worship is not a public forum for your protest!” Dhillon told Lemon on X.
A house of worship is not a public forum for your protest! It is a space protected from exactly such acts by federal criminal and civil laws! Nor does the First Amendment protect your pseudo journalism of disrupting a prayer service.
You are on notice! https://t.co/5QASu6N4OE

“It is a space protected from exactly such acts by federal criminal and civil laws! Nor does the First Amendment protect your pseudo journalism of disrupting a prayer service. You are on notice.”
Lemon pushed back in a statement to Fox News, rejecting claims that he orchestrated or led the protest.
“It’s notable that I’ve been cast as the face of a protest I was covering as a journalist — especially since I wasn’t the only reporter there. That framing is telling,” Lemon said.
He also alleged that backlash against him carried racial and homophobic undertones.
“What’s even more telling is the barrage of violent threats, along with homophobic and racist slurs, directed at me online by MAGA supporters and amplified by parts of the right-wing press,” Lemon went on.
“If this much time and energy is going to be spent manufacturing outrage, it would be far better used investigating the tragic death of Renee Nicole Good— the very issue that brought people into the streets in the first place, I stand by my reporting,” he added.
ICE warned on social media that protesters that targeting churches would not deter enforcement.
Agitators aren’t just targeting our officers. Now they’re targeting churches, too.
They're going from hotel to hotel, church to church, hunting for federal law enforcement who are risking their lives to protect Americans.

“Agitators aren’t just targeting our officers. Now they’re targeting churches, too… We won’t be deterred. ICE isn’t going anywhere,” the agency posted.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison rejected claims that the protest violated federal law during an appearance on Lemon’s YouTube show.
“And the FACE Act, by the way, is designed to protect the rights of people seeking reproductive rights,” Ellison said.
“How they are stretching either of these laws to apply to people who protested in a church over the behavior of a religious leader is beyond me,” he remarked.
Lemon later claimed on his podcast that the Trump administration’s response was racially motivated.
“I think that there is obviously… racism in it,” Lemon alleged. “They’re detaining people on the streets because of accents and the color of their skin.”
He also lashed out at Cities Church parishioners. “I think people who are you know in the religious groups like that… that entitlement comes from supremacy, white supremacy,” Lemon said.
The confrontation unfolded amid escalating protests across Minnesota following the killing of Renee Nicole Good earlier this month.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey declared his city was “under siege” after ICE operations intensified.
“This is ridiculous, but we will not be intimidated by the actions of this federal government,” Frey said.
Jacob Frey: "Right now we have about 600 police officers, and they've got 3,000 or so ICE agents and Border Patrol. They're now talking about deploying 1,500 military? This is ridiculous, but we will not be intimidated by the actions of this federal government." pic.twitter.com/RtInirpfZr

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz also criticized ICE, prompting the Trump administration to launch a Justice Department investigation into both leaders.
President Donald Trump warned on Truth Social that federal intervention would be swift if unrest continued.
“If I am forced to act,” Trump wrote, the situation would be resolved “QUICKLY and EFFECTIVELY.”
The Department of Homeland Security has since deployed nearly 3,000 federal agents to Minnesota, with 1,500 troops reportedly on standby as tensions escalate.
