Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign stumbled on Monday when an old tweet attempted to mock former President Donald Trump’s past warning that electing Joe Biden would lead to a market “crash” came back to haunt them.
The “Kamala HQ” account on X, which used to be the “Biden HQ” before the president exited the race last month, posted a May clip of Trump discussing the economy with Sheryl Atkinson on “Full Measure” ahead of the 2020 election.
“If Biden gets in, the market will crash,” Trump declared in the eight-second clip.
In their May 24th post, which went viral with 9.1 million views, the account boasted about the stock market reaching “the highest levels ever recorded in history under President Biden.”
Tweets that did not age well.

They clearly spoke too soon, as Trump’s prediction came true when the Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq indexes took a nosedive on Monday morning in what The Wall Street Journal described as a “global selloff,” following a drop last Friday due to recession fears.
“Tweets that did not age well,” quipped the Mostly Peaceful Memes account.
“I think you spoke too soon,” conservative X user Tara Bull replied.
“This post aged like spilled milk,” someone responded on Monday.
Adding to the Biden-Harris administration’s list of poorly aging comments, President Joe Biden, when asked about his legacy for Gen Z, claimed he wanted his accomplishments to include that he had “cured the economy.”
This statement, which was made last Tuesday, was met with widespread mockery on social media the day of the market crash.

“By cured did he mean poisoned?” One person wrote.
“Please stop curing the economy. I don’t think it can take much more,” another commented, adding the hashtag #KamalaCrash.
Major U.S. stock indexes ended the day with severe losses due to a disappointing jobs report released Friday that sparked fears of an economic slowdown.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted 2.60% on Monday, over 1,000 points, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq fell 3.00% and 3.43%, respectively, Yahoo Finance reported.
Republican nominee Donald Trump lambasted Biden for bad leadership on Sunday, in a scathing post ahead of the market’s crash.
“STOCK MARKETS CRASHING. I TOLD YOU SO!!! KAMALA DOESN’T HAVE A CLUE. BIDEN IS SOUND ASLEEP. ALL CAUSED BY INEPT U.S. LEADERSHIP!” he wrote in his trademark posting style of all caps.
The Associated Press reported that the S&P’s Monday drop is the worst since the end of 2022.
The impact was felt globally, with stocks in the Asia-Pacific region, stocks falling sharply and Japan’s Nikkei 225 stock index dropping 12.40%, its biggest one-day fall since Black Monday in 1987, CNBC reported.
“Of course there is a massive market downturn. Kamala is even worse than Crooked Joe,” Trump penned in a follow-up post. “Markets will NEVER accept the Radical Left Lunatic that DESTROYED San Francisco and California, as a whole.”
“Next move, THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024! You can’t play games with MARKETS. KAMALA CRASH!!!” He added.
Trump wanted his Truth Social followers to remember that he was “right about everything” in his next post.
“VOTERS HAVE A CHOICE — TRUMP PROSPERITY, OR THE KAMALA CRASH & GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024, NOT TO MENTION THE PROBABILITY OF WORLD WAR lll IF THESE VERY STUPID PEOPLE REMAIN IN OFFICE,” he typed.
Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), came out swinging on X, reminding voters that the “moment could set off a real economic calamity around the globe.”
This moment could set off a real economic calamity around the globe. It requires steady leadership–the kind President Trump delivered for four years.
Kamala Harris is too afraid to answer media questions and cannot lead us in these troubled times. #WheresKamala

“It requires steady leadership — the kind President Trump delivered for four years,” he told his 1.7 million followers.
“Kamala Harris is too afraid to answer media questions and cannot lead us in these troubled times.”
In quick work, Trump’s campaign released an attack ad targeting Vice President Kamala Harris for her role in the Biden administration’s “disastrous economic policies,” which they claimed were a factor in the worst stock market close in years.
The ad, titled “Kamala Krash,” shows clips of various stock trackers plummeting, interspersed with footage of Harris repeatedly saying “Bidenomics is working.”

The ad accuses Harris of co-owning “all of Joe Biden’s massive spending and woke priorities” that have led to Americans “suffering.”
“Kamala Harris’ weakness, failure, and dangerously liberal priorities have thrust our economy into chaos,” Trump campaign senior advisor Brian Hughes said to the Daily Caller on Monday.
The Trump campaign noted that the economic policies put in place by the Biden-Harris administration have “skyrocketed prices” and “thrust our economy into chaos.”
Hughes explained that “Americans were already feeling the pinch everywhere from the grocery store to the gas pump, but now, their long-term savings and retirement funds are in jeopardy.”
“President Trump was right: voters have a choice between the Kamala Krash or Trump Cash this November, and they are more ready than ever to bring back our booming economy and Make America Wealthy Again,” he concluded.
