A viral video clip featuring Michigan’s Governor Gretchen Whitmer sparked outrage on Thursday.
In the footage, Whitmer, donning a Harris/Walz campaign hat, is seen feeding a Doritos chip to Liz Plank, a “feminist” podcast host who is kneeling.
Plank uploaded the video to her Instagram under the handle “feministabulous,” with the caption, “If he won’t, Gretchen Whitmer will.”
“Chips aren’t just delicious, the CHIPS Act is a game-changer for U.S. tech and manufacturing, boosting domestic production of semiconductors to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers!” the post continued. “Donald Trump would put that at risk.”

The video was also shared on TikTok with the caption “new interview with big gretch just dropped!” received backlash on social media.
Critics accused Whitmer of mocking the Catholic faith, by imitating the sacrament of the Eucharist, which represents receiving the body of Christ.
“Are they mocking what I think they’re mocking,” CBS star Patricia Heaton questioned.
Conservative pundit Greg Price tweeted, “Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer feeds a left-wing podcaster a Dorito as if it’s the Eucharist while wearing a Kamala/Walz hat.”
“But word on the street is that JD Vance is weird and that MAGA is a cult,” he added.
Former Trump advisor Tim Murtaugh also weighed in, tweeting, “Gov. Whitmer of Michigan is pretending to give communion to a leftist podcaster on her knees, using a Dorito as the Eucharist while wearing a Harris-Walz hat. Do they want ZERO Catholic votes for Harris?”
“It’s wild that some Christians refuse to vote when Democrats obviously loathe you… because you’re Christian,” added conservative author Liz Wheeler.
Despite the criticisms, one of Whitmer’s aides defended the video, explaining it was part of a popular TikTok trend where people feed each other.
The viral trend has seen celebrities like Billie Eilish, Kylie Jenner, and Stephen Colbert participating,” the aide cited.
“The governor’s social media is well known for infusing her communications with pop culture,” the staffer added.
They also mentioned that the attention the video garnered proves its success in promoting President Biden’s CHIPS Act.
“Republicans want to distract from the fact that Democrats have invested billions of dollars into local economies to create a record number of jobs and bring supply chains back from overseas, while Donald Trump’s policies would kill these jobs and send them back to China,” the staffer told Fox News Digital.
Plank, who hosts the podcast “Chip Chat,” also reiterated that the video was a riff on the social media trend.

She shared video showing Jeremy Allen White from “The Bear” feeding late-night host Stephen Colbert a slice of pizza, captioning it, “This is the trend weirdos chill out.”
The video with the Michigan Governor was a promotional clip for Whitmer’s Thursday appearance on Plank’s YouTube show.
During the interview, they covered topics including former President Trump, abortion, and undecided male voters.
Plank asked Whitmer, “What would you say to a man who feels like he can’t vote for a woman, he can’t vote for Kamala Harris?”
“We deserve and need a commander-in-chief who is tough,” Whitmer retorted. “We’re going to have to deal with the worst of the worst bullies around the globe.”
“From Vladimir Putin to Chinese leadership to what’s happening in North Korea,” she continued. “We’ve got to have a tough commander-in-chief, not someone who kowtows … or who is on an ego trip.”
Plank then asked a hypothetical question, “Speaking of men who lie, would you rather be in a forest alone with Donald Trump or with a bear?” Whitmer chose, “A bear.”
“Because I might have a better shot of reasoning with the bear,” she smirked.
