Irish MMA superstar Conor McGregor is scheduled to visit the White House for a St. Patrick’s Day meeting with President Donald Trump.
On Monday, McGregor made an appearance in the White House briefing room alongside Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, where he delivered sharp criticism of Ireland’s government, accusing it of failing its citizens and disregarding their concerns.
“I’m here to raise the issues the people of Ireland face. It’ll be music to the people of Ireland’s ears because never on the main stage have [these issues] been spoken,” McGregor declared.
The famed fighter took particular aim at Ireland’s policies on illegal immigration and government accountability.

“Our government has long since abandoned the voices of the people of Ireland, and it’s high time that America is made aware of what is going on in Ireland,” he asserted.
“What is going on in Ireland is a travesty. Our government is the government of zero action with zero accountability.”
McGregor went on to warn that Ireland is on the verge of losing its cultural identity due to unchecked migration.

“Our money is being spent on overseas issues that have nothing to do with the Irish people,” he added.
“The illegal immigration racket is running ravage on the country. There are rural towns in Ireland that have been overrun in one swoop, that have become a minority in one swoop.”
The MMA champion also highlighted the deep historical ties between the United States and Ireland, appealing to Irish Americans to take note of what he described as a growing crisis in his homeland.
“Ireland and America, we are siblings,” McGregor remarked. “So, issues need to be addressed, and the 40 million Irish-Americans need to hear this, because if not, there will be no place to come home and visit.”
He also expressed admiration for President Trump’s work ethic and stated his desire to learn from the former president.
“So we wish for our relationship with the United States to continue, and we wish to be taken care of by the big bro,” he said.
“The United States should look after its little bro. And that’s how we feel.”
His comments came shortly after Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin met with President Trump at the White House.
During that meeting, Trump offered praise for McGregor, referencing the fighter’s tattoos and acknowledging Ireland’s history of producing fierce competitors.
Donald Trump says he’s a fan of Conor McGregor:
“He’s got the best tattoos I’ve ever seen. Conor’s great…
Ireland’s always had a lot of good fighters. You know why, because they’re tough people.”

“I do happen to like your fighter; he’s got the best tattoos I’ve ever seen. Conor’s great, right? Talking about Conor, but you have a lot of great Irish fighters actually. Great fighters,” Trump said.
Following McGregor’s remarks, Martin took to X to push back against the MMA star’s statements.
“St. Patrick’s Day around the world is a day rooted in community, humanity, friendship, and fellowship,” Martin wrote.
“Conor McGregor’s remarks are wrong and do not reflect the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, or the views of the people of Ireland,”
McGregor, a vocal supporter of President Trump, has previously praised the former president’s resilience.
In the wake of the assassination attempt on Trump in July 2024, McGregor lauded Trump’s determination, saying: “A 78-year-old multiple billionaire—he should be on a yacht on the Med, touring golf courses. But he is not.”
“He is in Pennsylvania, spitting out bullets! Running for the love of his country! God speed, Donald! God bless the United States,” he added.

McGregor also attended Trump’s second inauguration in January 2025, where he was seen alongside notable figures such as UFC President Dana White and podcaster Joe Rogan.
Meanwhile, the American Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys took a very different stance on Trump during St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
During a Saturday night concert in Boston, lead singer Ken Casey lashed out at a fan who had been holding up a red MAGA hat throughout the show.

“We’re gonna play a song about our grandparents and people who fought Nazis in the war and s**t, if you could just shut the f**k up for five minutes,” Casey said.
He went on to ridicule supporters of Trump’s movement, claiming they were brainwashed.
“You’ve got the black-on-black Elon Musk, true Nazi edition,” Casey mocked, before taking further jabs at the fan.
“Bro, listen, I admire your dedication, but I will ask everyone, if you’re in a room full of people and you want to know who’s in a cult, how do you know who’s in a cult?” He then pointed at the fan’s hat.
“They’ve been holding up a fucking hat the whole night to represent a president. This is America. There’s no kings here!”
Casey’s hostility toward Trump supporters is not new. Earlier in March, he berated a fan at a show in Clearwater, Florida, for wearing a pro-Trump hat, claiming it was likely made overseas.
“The reason we speak out, we don’t care if we lose fans, because when history is said and done, we want it known that the Dropkick Murphys stood with the people, we stood with the workers,” Casey stated. “It’s all a f**king scam, guys.”
He went on to boast about the band’s commitment to selling only American-made merchandise and challenged the fan to a wager.
“And here’s the bet I’d like to make: If you lose the bet, we switch shirts, OK? If you win the bet, I give you $100 and the shirt,” he said.
“It’s made in Nicaragua! He’s taking the shirt off. We’re taking crime off the streets.”
