Vice President J.D. Vance clapped back at critics of Sydney Sweeney’s new American Eagle campaign, ridiculing the left’s outrage over a jeans advertisement that some have bizarrely claimed is a dog whistle for white supremacy.
In an interview that aired Friday, Vance accused Democrats of spiraling into hysteria over what he called a perfectly harmless and “all-American” commercial.
The ad in question promotes American Eagle’s denim line with the tagline “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,” cheekily altered in the video with the actress crossing out the word “genes” and replacing it with “jeans.”
The 26-year-old actress, known for her roles in shows like Euphoria and The White Lotus, poses in denim while the wordplay flashes onscreen.

While most viewers understood the pun as lighthearted, some progressive commentators declared the ad campaign to be a form of “Nazi propaganda,” suggesting it covertly celebrated racial purity due to Sweeney’s appearance — blonde hair and blue eyes.
Grammy-winning pop star Lizzo jumped into the fray with a meme on social media, inserting herself into the ad mockup alongside the caption, “My jeans are black…”

When asked about the controversy, Vance laughed and labeled the criticism absurd.
“My political advice to the Democrats is continue to tell everybody who thinks Sydney Sweeney is attractive is a Nazi,” he said. “That appears to be their actual strategy.”

The vice president continued, pointing to what he called a revealing pattern within the Democratic Party’s rhetoric.
“You have a normal, all-American beautiful girl doing a normal jeans ad. They’re trying to sell jeans to kids in America, and they have managed to so unhinge themselves over this thing.”
Vance questioned whether Democrats had learned anything from their losses in 2024. “I actually thought one of the lessons [Democrats] might take is they’re gonna be less crazy,” he said.

“The lesson apparently taken is, ‘We’re gonna attack people as Nazis for thinking that Sydney Sweeney is beautiful.’ Great strategy, guys, that’s how you’re gonna win the midterms. Especially young, American men.”
“Ruthless” podcast co-host Josh Holmes chimed in, saying, “Their course correction lasted about 30 seconds.”
“That’s right, somehow has gotten even crazier,” Vance replied. “So much of the Democrats is oriented around hostility to basic American life.”
🚨 LMAO! JD Vance just reacted to leftists melting down over Sydney Sweeney

“You have a pretty girl doing a jeans ad, and they can’t help but freak out. It reveals a lot more about them than it does us.”
American Eagle eventually responded to the online backlash with a curt statement. “‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story,” the company declared.
JUST IN: American Eagle refuses to apologize in a new statement posted to Instagram after receiving backlash for their Sydney Sweeney ad.
The new statement is already being met with more backlash from angered liberals.

“We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.”
Donald Trump Jr. lauded the company for not folding under social media pressure. “Good for them for not backing down to the woke mob!!!” he posted online.
The firestorm continued to spread when Dunkin’ Donuts appeared to court controversy of its own with a new summer ad.
In a 35-second spot promoting the chain’s Golden Hour Refresher drinks, actor Gavin Casalegno — best known for The Summer I Turned Pretty — leaned into the genetics theme.
🚨Oh boy, libs are about to lose their minds again—Dunkin’ Donuts just dropped a new ad with Gavin Casalegno! 😂😭😂

Sitting poolside, Casalegno told the camera, “Look, I didn’t ask to be the king of summer. It just kind of happened. This tan? Genetics. I just got my color analysis back. Guess what? Golden Summer. Literally.”
He added, “I can’t help it. Every time I drink a Dunkin’ Golden Hour Refresher, it’s like the sun just finds me. So if sipping these refreshers makes me the King of Summer, guilty as charged.”
Predictably, liberal TikTok users were quick to pounce. “Two big ads alluding to ‘desirable genetics’ should be a major red flag for a lot of us,” one user warned. Another asked, “Why are ads so obsessed with genetics all of a sudden?”
Back on the podcast, Vance pivoted from pop culture to football, sharing his enthusiasm for the Cincinnati Bengals’ upcoming NFL season.
“This is our year. We fixed the O-line this year,” he said. “I think Burrow is at the perfect stage of maturity. The wide receiver corps is excellent. I think our defense is solid.”

He also weighed in on a disturbing incident in Cincinnati involving a viral street brawl.
Video footage appeared to show a group of individuals brutally beating a woman unconscious.
“The most important thing that states and cities can do is to actually solve the law enforcement recruitment challenge that we have,” Vance said.
The vice president urged leaders in blue cities to actively support their police departments and reverse the long-standing consequences of anti-police sentiment, referencing the aftermath of the 2020 George Floyd protests.

“The way to fix it is to get good people back into law enforcement,” he stated.
At a separate event in Canton, Ohio, Vance addressed the violent video clip directly. “What I saw, and I haven’t seen the full context, but what I saw is a mob of lawless thugs beating up on an innocent person,” he said.
“I hope every single one of those people who engage in violence is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
