Spotify podcaster Joe Rogan issued a stark warning this week, suggesting that America may be edging closer to civil conflict following the killing of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk.
During Tuesday’s episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience,” the titular host lamented that the disturbing public celebration of Kirk’s assassination revealed a dangerous shift in the nation’s moral compass.
Speaking with longtime collaborator Brian Redban, Rogan described an increasing eye-for-an-eye dynamic between the political left and right, which he believes has spiraled out of control.
He pointed to the September campus shooting that claimed Kirk’s life as a symptom of deep political division and a broader cultural breakdown.
Joe Rogan: “You want people to die that you disagree with? Where are we right now on the scale of 1 to civil war? … I thought we were … 4 or 5. But after the Charlie Kirk thing, I'm like, ‘Oh, we might be 7.’” pic.twitter.com/CHlbzXA47T

“Charlie Kirk gets shot and people are celebrating like, ‘whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You want people to die that you disagree with?’” Rogan said.
“Like, where are we right now on the scale of one-to-civil war? Where are we? Are we at seven? Because I thought we were at a five. I thought we were like four. Four or five.”
He added that after witnessing the reaction online, “Oh, we might be like seven. This might be like step seven on the way to a bonafide civil war.”

Rogan argued that celebrating any person’s death, especially a killing carried out in public and witnessed by their family, signals a profound moral decline amongst Americans.
He said that when disagreement over ideas leads to cheers for violence, society is on dangerous ground.
Rogan pointed out that many of the celebratory reactions were not coming from extremists but from people like doctors and school teachers, who openly posted about Kirk’s death on social media.
“This is nuts,” he said. “Like what are you guys on? What’s happening here?”
Months after Kirk’s assassination Turning Point USA events have continued to face heightened tensions.
During a Monday event at the University of California, Berkeley, chaos broke out when a man wearing a red “FREEDOM” shirt was attacked outside the venue.

Witnesses said the shirt resembled the one Kirk wore when he was shot at a Utah campus event on September 10.
Police said they saw two men fighting around 5:00 p.m. and initially detained both for public fighting.
After investigating officers determined that the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Oakland resident Jihad Dphrepaulezz, had allegedly stolen a chain from the victim’s neck.
“After speaking with the involved parties and corroborating information through open-source media footage, officers determined that one of the men—Jihad Dphrepaulezz—had stolen the other man’s chain,” police stated. “The other man was attempting to get his chain back from Dphrepaulezz.”

The victim was released, while Dphrepaulezz was charged with robbery and battery causing injury.
Authorities also confirmed several other arrests linked to the event, including four women taken into custody for felony vandalism after allegedly attempting to hang a five-foot cardboard bug from UC Berkeley’s Sather Gate in protest of the TPUSA gathering.
Rogan has often warned about the normalization of political violence. Following Kirk’s assassination, he told listeners that the event “opened up” his eyes to just how far partisan hostility had gone.
“It’s just bizarre, like, normal people that, I think, think they’re good people, and they think, they genuinely think, that guy was a bad guy,” he said.
“And I don’t think they’re right. And I think they were indoctrinated. And I don’t agree with everything that Charlie Kirk said or did.”
Rogan described Kirk as a young man whose fame came largely from engaging college students in debates on campuses.
“But it infuriated people because they felt like this guy is going against the progress that was being made in society,” he noted.
He said one of the most alarming parts of the tragedy was that “perfectly normal people” were celebrating Kirk’s murder because of political differences.
“I don’t think some of the things he said he should have said,” Rogan admitted, “but the fact that people were cheering when he died — normal people, housewives, moms, like f—— people working at banks, people working at various industries — celebrating a man getting shot in front of his kids in the front of the whole world. Like what the f— is wrong with us?”
He continued, “When this Charlie Kirk thing happens, there’s a giant blowback. And most people recognize like, ‘Hey, as a collective, as a society, this is not right.’”
“Regardless of whoever that person is, whether that person’s on the left or the right, they just got shot in front of the whole world. It’s not a thing to celebrate ever,” he continued.
Rogan also criticized what he viewed as hypocrisy from those who claim to support tolerance and inclusion yet cheer acts of political violence.
“People on the left who say they’re progressive, compassionate, and inclusive were openly celebrating gun violence and public executions,” he remarked.
The host previously reacted in real time to the news of Kirk’s death during a September 11 episode of his show, where he and actor Charlie Sheen learned of the incident mid-recording.
“Should we bring this up? I guess we have to. So, this just happened. We just found out that Charlie Kirk got shot,” Rogan said.
“It’s f—— awful,” Sheen replied after a pause.
Rogan then asked his producer to confirm whether Kirk had died. After a moment of uncertainty, the team received confirmation. Both Rogan and Sheen appeared stunned. “Whoa!” Rogan exclaimed.
“Murdered for having a different opinion from somebody else,” Sheen said. “Different ideology from somebody else … beliefs that didn’t align.”
“Rest in peace,” Sheen added. “F—! He doesn’t deserve that. Nobody deserves that.”
