A political tweet about NFL star Travis Kelce and President Donald Trump sent the internet into a tailspin after the Kansas City Chief’s epic loss on Monday Night Football.
Democrats curiously posted a video on their official X account that paired highlights of the Kansas City Chiefs’ recent loss to the Houston Texans with clips of President Donald Trump appearing tired, tripping, and whiffing a golf shot.
The post used the word “washed” beneath the edited footage. Viewers quickly noticed that one scene featured Kelce missing a catch during the game.
The post came amid speculation that Kelce, who is 36, might consider retirement following the team’s latest defeat, which leaves the Chiefs in danger of missing the postseason.

Swift’s supporters quickly jumped into the discussion after the video began circulating.
The formidably fierce fandom pointed to the singer’s long standing alignment with Democratic candidates and questioned the decision to target her fiancé.
One viewer replied that “making fun of Travis Kelce when his fiancé (sic) is your biggest celebrity endorsement is an… interesting strategy.”

Another commenter questioned why the Democrats were placing Trump and side-by-side with Kelce and a Championship team to make a point.
The user wrote, “So let me get this straight… Y’all are comparing Donald Trump to the Kansas City Chiefs, the National Football League’s greatest dynasty since Tom Brady and the Patriots, and trying to dunk on them, which obviously includes Travis Kelce, whose fiancée is the biggest Democrat celebrity endorser of all time? The Democrats are so dumb man…”

Several other comments questioned just who the Democrats were trying to reach with their message.
One post simply asked, “What is this supposed to be? Who is your target audience here?” Another added, “So… The Democrats hate Kansas City? Confused by this.”
A separate viewer wrote, “All the Swifties keeping the GOP in office in 2026 was not on my bingo card.”
Kelce did not publicly endorse anyone during the most recent election cycle. Some supporters, however, believed he would have aligned with Democrats after Trump posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” on Truth Social shortly after his then-girlfriend announced her support for Kamala Harris.
Swift went public with her endorsement following the Harris-Trump debate in September 2024.
During that announcement, she made reference to comments Vice President JD Vance once made by joking that she was a “childless cat lady.”
She added her concern about false images that circulated online before the election.
Swift wrote that an AI-generated picture of her backing Trump was posted to his platform.

“Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site,” Swift stated.
“It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation.”
She said this pushed her to clarify her voting intentions, adding, “It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter.”
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” Swift continued.
“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. With love and hope, Taylor Swift. Childless Cat Lady.”
Following Swift’s announcement, Trump said he preferred Brittany Mahomes, the wife of Chief’s star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better if you want to know the truth,” he remarked, noting that she supported him.
“She’s a big Trump fan. I was not a Taylor Swift fan,” Trump went on, adding that Swift “seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a pay price for it in the marketplace.”
“But no, I like Brittany. I think Brittany’s great, Brittany got a lot of news last week, she’s a big MAGA fan that’s the one I like much better than Taylor Swift,” he concluded.
Brittany Mahomes has publicly supported Trump despite her close friendship with Swift.
Swift and Trump both attended last season’s Super Bowl. Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to attend the championship game.
The Chiefs lost to the Philadelphia Eagles, and afterward he posted on Truth Social, “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

As the Eagles have struggled this season, commentators recently suggested that longtime center Jason Kelce, Travis’s brother, should consider returning.
The team lost 22 to 19 to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, dropping to 8 and 5, prompting speculation after repeated issues with their offensive line.
During an ESPN broadcast, host Joe Buck commented, “Maybe the Eagles, with these banged up interior offensive linemen can call on our friend, ole 38-year-old Jason Kelce.”

“I would be surprised if they haven’t already at some point this year, even last year. I think I’d be knocking on his door every week to try to get him to come back. He can still do it,” Troy Aikman replied.
Jason Kelce retired in March 2024 and now works as a fellow football analyst.
As the conversation about the Eagles continued online, Trump posted a response to recent stories about his health.
Some liberal media outlets suggested that he had been dealing with physical challenges, prompting him to push back.
“There has never been a President that has worked as hard as me! My hours are the longest, and my results are among the best,” he wrote on Truth Social.
Trump pointed out that he had strengthened the economy, secured the border and kept the country out of conflict, adding that he had “created an ‘aura’ around the United States of America that has led every Country in the World to respect us more than ever before.”
Trump referred to recent medical evaluations at Walter Reed Medical Center.
The president wrote that he underwent “long, thorough and very boring” tests that were overseen by top physicians who gave him “PERFECT Marks.”
He added that he has taken a cognitive exam three times, writing that he “ACED all three of them in front of large numbers of doctors and experts.”
He disputed reports that suggested he had reduced his public schedule. The New York Times article at the center of the discussion said his attempts to show “energy, virility and physical stamina” had become more challenging with age.
Trump clapped back that critics “pretend that I am ‘slowing up,’ am maybe not as sharp as I once was, or am in poor physical health,” insisting that he works harder than ever.
“I will know when I am ‘slowing up,’ but it’s not now,” he shot back and suggested that the newspaper should face consequences for its reporting.

“I actually believe it’s seditious, perhaps even treasonous, for The New York Times, and others, to consistently do FAKE reports in order to libel and demean THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. They are true Enemies of the People, and we should do something about it,” he said about the mainstream news outlets.
He added that many media groups were “forced to apologize” for coverage of previous elections.
He concluded by writing that the nation would benefit if the publication shut down, saying, “The best thing that could happen to this Country would be if The New York Times would cease publication because they are a horrible, biased, and untruthful ‘source’ of information.”
The New York Times reacted to Trump’s post in a statement on Tuesday, defending their reporting as “heavily sourced.”
“Americans deserve in-depth reporting about the health of the leaders they elect. Mr. Trump welcomed our reporting on the age and fitness of his predecessors; we’re applying the same journalistic scrutiny to his vitality,” Nicole Taylor, the outlet’s spokesperson remarked.
“Our reporting is heavily sourced, based on interviews with people close to the president and with medical experts. We won’t be deterred by false and inflammatory language that distorts the role of a free press.”
