Liberal critics are absolutely fuming that Vice President JD Vance took time out of his schedule to workout with military members in California.
Vice President JD Vance on Monday posted images of himself participating in physical training alongside members of the Navy SEALs at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado.
Vance, a former Marine who previously served in the U.S. Marine Corps and deployed to the Middle East in 2005 working in public affairs, shared the photos on X and described the experience in hilariously vivid terms.
He wrote that the Navy’s elite special operations force, known for its demanding selection process and intense physical standards, “took it easy on me and I still feel like I got hit by a freight train.”

“So grateful to all of our warriors who keep us safe and keep the highest standards anywhere in the world,” Vance added in the post.
The Vice President’s official X account later released additional photographs showing him jogging along the shoreline, carrying a large log with service members, rowing in the ocean, climbing netting and navigating a rope obstacle course.
Supporters quickly praised the images, with some describing the photos as inspiring and others highlighting Vance’s military background.
One widely shared post labeled the photos “epic,” while another said the 41-year-old vice president joining the session was “badass.”
Not all reactions were positive. Critics questioned the purpose of the visit and suggested the images were staged or politically motivated.
Some seized on Vance’s description of the workout, with one critic mocking him as “GI Jello” after he said he was incredibly worn out after the training session.
Vance responded to the criticism with humor, sharing a meme of himself with an exaggerated, superimposed fatter version of his head and captioning it simply, “fixed it.”

Other detractors were less amused. “Nice cosplay as a Navy SEAL,” one commenter wrote. “Leadership isn’t about photo ops, it’s about fixing the mess at home.”
Additional comments suggested the images were more about presentation than substance.
“This administration loves their photo shoots,” one person wrote. Another added, “Seems more like a ‘flex for the cameras’ than actual training, how much real-world impact will this have on national security?”
Some users questioned the authenticity of the photos altogether, claiming that they looked artificially generated, while others noted that Vance appeared relatively composed despite reportedly training for roughly 90 minutes.
One commenter remarked that he did not appear to break a sweat in the pictures.
There were also interpretations that framed the images as politically strategic for his potential 2028 presidential run.
“Photo shoot for upcoming campaign. So many photo ops, so little time to actually do something resembling his job,” one user wrote on X.
Others framed the criticism in economic terms, arguing the visit reflected a disconnect between leadership and everyday concerns.
“It’s the middle of the workday. While Americans are grinding to make Christmas work, the vice president is burning taxpayer dollars pretending to be a Navy SEAL,” another post read.
Democratic strategist Christopher Hale echoed that sentiment, accusing Vance of “burning taxpayer dollars pretending to be a Navy SEAL.”
The reaction to the photos followed Vance’s appearance last weekend at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest 2025, where he addressed a crowd of conservative activists and discussed the future of the political movement aligned with President Donald Trump.
Speaking to attendees, Vance said the coalition built by President Trump was broad enough to withstand internal disagreements and ideological diversity.
He described the “America First” movement as welcoming to people with differing perspectives who share a commitment to the country.
“People of every faith come to our banner because they know that the America First movement will make our lives better,” Vance told the crowd.

“They know Democrats don’t care about anything other than trans-ing their kids.”
He pledged to stand with supporters he described as patriots and dismissed internal disputes that had surfaced earlier during the conference, without naming specific individuals or media figures involved.
“President Trump did not build the greatest coalition in politics by running his supporters through endless, self-defeating purity tests,” Vance said, as earlier speakers had publicly referenced disagreements over issues such as Israel, Ukraine aid and other policy debates within conservative circles.
Vance continued by listing the diversity he said defined the movement. “We don’t care if you’re White or Black, rich or poor, young or old, rural or urban, controversial or a little bit boring, or somewhere in between,” he said, adding that supporters believed the movement would improve their lives.
Vance told the audience he had no intention of targeting fellow conservatives or compiling lists of opponents.
“So if you love America, if you want all of us to be richer, stronger, safer, and prouder, you have a home on this team,” he noted.
“I didn’t bring a list of conservatives to denounce or to deplatform, and I don’t really care if some people out there — I’m sure we’ll have the fake news media — denounce me after this speech.”
During the speech, Vance also made a pointed remark about Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, who recently announced a bid for the Senate. He said “her street-girl persona is about as real as her nails!”

Crockett responded during a subsequent interview, rejecting the criticism and describing the comment as racist.
“I’m sorry, but anybody that you talk to knows my credentials. They know that I’ve gone to school. They know that I’m educated,” she said.
She said she had not fabricated her background. “I never tried to put on some random story about where I came from, but at the end of the day, I am who I am, and I am authentic,” Crockett continued, claiming that her authenticity resonated with voters.
“Because it rings true with every single American, whether they’re Texan or not.”

Crockett said she was not concerned with Vance’s remarks and said her focus remained on policy issues affecting Texas residents.
“I don’t have time for him and their games. They are scared, and they should be scared,” she said.
She urged voters to consider recent legislative decisions. “I need Texans to focus in. I need them to think about the fact that our two senators literally just voted against extending the Affordable Care Act tax subsidies,” Crockett said in reference to Sens. Ted Cruz and John Cornyn.
She also criticized the Trump-backed One Big Beautiful Bill Act, referring to it as the “ugly” bill, while stating that her attention remained on her campaign.
“I’m not going to be distracted,” Crockett noted. “And when they can tell me about their policies that are helping Texans, then we can have a conversation.”
She closed by addressing the context of her career. “Because I have been a Black woman my entire life,” the Democrat commented.
“I promise you, there are other people just like JD Vance, who have tried to do the same racist tropes my entire life, and somehow I ascended and became a U.S. congresswoman.”
Crockett pointed out that she anticipated continued scrutiny. “It will not be different when I become a U.S. senator, and we can have a conversation when I get to the Senate floor if he wants to talk,” she concluded.
