Joe Rogan ripped New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as a “psychopath” Thursday after learning the Democrat wants $1.2 billion more for migrants in his 2027 budget.
Mamdani’s fiscal year 2027 proposal, released Tuesday, sets total spending at $127 billion and includes an additional $1.2 billion for migrants arriving in the city.
Rogan reacted in disbelief during an episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience.”
“He’s a f**king psychopath. Like, the amount for migrants is crazy,” Rogan said. “There should be zero dollars for illegal immigrants.”

Guest Michael Malice pushed back, arguing that migrants still need basic necessities.
“Human beings need food. What are you going to do?” Malice asked.
“Get them jobs,” Rogan shot back. When Malice questioned how that would work, Rogan joked, “Get him a job in Guatemala.”

Malice pressed further. “Wouldn’t you rather give them food than a job? I don’t want them taking American citizens’ jobs.”
The two agreed the situation reflects a system they described as a “mess.”

“Unless you’re going to remove them from the country,” Rogan added. “Right,” Malice replied.
Rogan’s criticism lands as Mamdani faces mounting pressure over how he plans to fund the massive spending blueprint.
The proposal includes tax hikes affecting more than 3 million city residents.
Anyone who voted for Mamdani in NYC shouldn’t be able to move for 3 years and 11 months. They should have to live with the consequences of their stupidity.

The Washington Post editorial board mocked the mayor’s math a day later, arguing that his promises do not align with fiscal reality.
“The reality is that Americans may like the idea of ‘free’ stuff — it’s how socialists win elections — but they are less excited about having to pay for it,” the board wrote.
“They’re even less excited when they live in a state that ranks at the very bottom of the Tax Foundation’s State Tax Competitiveness Index.”

“Mamdani claims his administration has found $1.7 billion to cut, but that’s a laughable number,” the board continued.
“The reality is that Mamdani is trying to expand a city government that already does way too much. The city should provide basic services, such as law and order, but instead it pours billions into social spending like housing and health care.”
The budget fight intensified after Mamdani acknowledged he may need to raise property taxes by 9.5 percent if New York Gov. Kathy Hochul refuses to approve his plan to hike income taxes on residents earning more than $1 million.

Mamdani campaigned on a flat 2 percent tax targeting high earners. Now he says that option requires state approval and may not materialize.
“If we cannot follow this first path, we will be forced onto a much more damaging path of last resort – one where we have to use the only tools at the city’s disposal: raising property taxes and raiding our reserves,” Mamdani warned.
“The second path is painful,” he added. “We will continue to work with Albany to avoid it.”
The mayor admitted that a property tax increase would hit not only the wealthy but also millions of working and middle-class homeowners.

He argued that City Hall inherited a projected deficit that could reach $5.4 billion within two years.
“I know that for those who have watched budget after budget, it is tempting to assume that we are engaging in the same dance as our predecessors. Let me assure you, nothing about this is typical. That’s why our solutions won’t be either,” Mamdani said.
Public safety concerns also loom over the proposal. Mamdani scrapped a hiring plan put in place by former Mayor Eric Adams that would have added 5,000 NYPD officers over several years.
Mamdani said “We are forced to raid the rainy day fund, retiree health benefits reserve, AND increase property taxes”.

Under Adams’ plan, the department would have grown toward roughly 40,000 officers.
Mamdani’s approach caps staffing closer to the current level of about 35,000 and floats a $22 million reduction in the police budget.
The proposal shifts funding priorities toward equity initiatives and administrative roles.
Mamdani’s blueprint allocates $5.6 million to the Office of Racial Equity and $4.6 million to the Commission on Racial Equity, bringing the combined total to $10.2 million. That represents about a $3 million increase from last year.

The Office of Racial Equity employs 38 staff members and coordinates policy across city agencies.
The Commission on Racial Equity includes 16 paid roles that focus on research and oversight.
The Department of Education budgets more than $260,000 for a chief diversity officer.
The fire department funds three civilian chief diversity inclusion officer positions totaling just over $301,000 in salaries, plus nearly $230,000 in overtime, for about $531,000 combined.
A separate uniformed chief diversity inclusion officer earns just over $118,000, bringing the department’s total diversity leadership spending to roughly $649,000.
The city also directs more than $835,000 to the Commission on Gender Equity, an advisory body dedicated to analyzing legislation and shaping policy positions on gender-based equality.
At the same time, Mamdani signaled a shift on homelessness enforcement.
After pausing encampment sweeps put in place by Adams, he announced Wednesday that sweeps would resume under a revised strategy.
“We will meet them looking to connect them with shelter, looking to them with services, looking to connect them with a city that wants them to be sheltered and indoors and warm and safe. And that is something that I believe will yield far better results,” Mamdani said during a press conference.
