“Hocus Pocus” witch Bette Midler blasted former President Donald Trump of “putting a hit” out on singer Taylor Swift shortly after he survived another assassination attempt.
“Trump rage-tweeting his hate for #TaylorSwift is not just dangerous, it’s illegal,” Midler tweeted at 3:11 p.m. on Sunday. “He is putting out a hit on her, and we all know it. He wants his minions to do his dirty work, and you know they will.”
“If she is hurt, he will deny that he knows anything about it, as he always does, ‘I don’t know, I haven’t heard.’ She should sue the diapers off him, and I hope she does. #SwiftiesUnite,” the post concluded.
Trump definitely didn’t call for any violence against Swift, when he posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” on Truth Social earlier that day.

His response came to Swift endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in a lengthy Instagram post immediately after the presidential debate, in which she slammed Trump for retweeting AI generate images that suggested she supported his campaign.
Midler’s post went viral with 1.4 million views, with many users agreeing that Trump’s remarks could spark violence against Swift.
However, some criticized Midler, arguing that her comments could also provoke violence against Trump.

The controversy arose on the same day as a second assassination attempt on Trump at his Palm Springs golf club.
“There was an assassination attempt on Trump again today but keep showing your deranged hatred,” someone commented.

“He just had a second attempt on his life and you put this out!!! You f*cking witch!!!” another criticized.
Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, is accused of firing a rifle from the bushes around Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.
The FBI commented that Trump survived “what appears to be an assassination attempt,” and his campaign confirmed he was “safe following gunshots in his vicinity.”
Secret Service agents spotted Routh near the property line and fired shots at him, before he fled in his car.
Martin County Sheriff William Snyder said officers surrounded Routh’s vehicle about two miles away, and he was stopped.
A witness had taken a picture of Routh and his car’s license plate, aiding the capture. Snyder said that the witness “deserves a lot of credit,” and significantly hastened the investigation.
“I think he may have thought he got away with it,” Snyder remarked. “Of course he wouldn’t have known there was a witness who really did the right thing, took a picture of him, took a picture of the tag. He was just going to drive himself back to wherever he came from.”
Trump was unscathed in the assassination attempt and went home to Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. This was the second assassination attempt on him in roughly two months.
Routh appeared in federal court in West Palm Beach on Monday, shackled at the arms and legs in a prison uniform.
He faces charges of possessing a firearm as a former felon and possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

In an email after the failed attempt, Trump wrote to supporters, “I AM SAFE AND WELL! Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again.”
After Trump’s anti-Swift post, some internet users speculated that Swift’s fans might have been behind the assassination attempt.
Trump posted his dislike for Swift at 10:44 am on Sunday. At 1:30 pm, Secret Service agents identified the gunman at the 6th hole of the course. He fled and was arrested at 2:00 pm.
One person noted, “Trump saying he hated Taylor was the last straw for Swifties.”
Another commented, “Biggest mistake anyone can ever make is pissing off Swifties. Most ruthless group out there, Trump is gonna have to sleep with both eyes open.”
Someone else remarked, “Waiting for TSwift to tweet #karma,” while another said, “I fear Trump and his cult made the grave mistake of antagonizing Swifties.”
Trump had criticized Swift the previous week, condemning her endorsement on Fox News, saying, “It was only a matter of time.”
He added, “You couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. But [Swift is] a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”
Swift endorsed Joe Biden over Trump in the 2020 election.
