Rapper Lil Nas X attempted to apologize after receiving fierce backlash from Christians posing as Jesus Christ while being nailed to a cross in shocking new music video.
The same rapper who who gave the devil a lap dance in his 2021 single, “Montero (Call Me by Your Name),” has once again infuriated the faithful with his latest music video for the single “J Christ.”
The beginning of the video depicts a line of people dressed in white as they ascend the stairway to heaven.
Included in the group are lookalikes of Taylor Swift, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, and former President Barrack Obama.

When they arrive through the gates of heaven, the Lil Nas X as an angel strides towards the camera holding a rosary in his lengthy fake nails, before descending into hell, where a demonic version of himself raps alongside a cauldron of human limbs.
Back in heaven, his angelic version faces off with the devil in a round of one-on-one basketball, then cuts to the rapper wearing a white cheerleader outfit and dancing along to his music with coordinated back up dancers.
The most shocking imagery of the video comes when Lil Nas X appears with a crown of thorns on an upside-down cross.

The video then spins around and the cross is in the correct upright position, while the “Panini” rapper is dressed as Jesus Christ and crucified as a group dressed in white dances in front of him.
Christian rapper Bryson Gray appeared on Fox News to blast Lil Nas X for “mocking” Christianity.
“I think that he is mocking Christianity. He is mocking Christ. That’s why he uses Christian imagery to do it.”
“He’s doing it with the goal to mock us because that’s how he gets his clicks,” he continued.
“I don’t care if he gets the clicks about Christians reacting. I want to see more Christians reacting.”
Gray called the rapper a “gay demon” for the publicity stunt. “It’s offensive, especially for people who really, genuinely, truly love Jesus Christ,” Gray told the outlet.
the crazy thing is nowhere in the picture is a mockery of jesus. Jesus’s image is used throughout history in people’s art all over the world. I’m not making fun of shit. yall just gotta stop trying to gatekeep a religion that was here before any of us were even born. stfu

“It’s offensive seeing a man who portrays himself as homosexual being on the cross. It’s offensive.”
Lil Nas X took to X, formerly Twitter, to defend his video last week. “The crazy thing is nowhere in the picture is a mockery of Jesus,” he posted. “Jesus’s image is used throughout history in people’s art all over the world.”

“I’m not making fun of s**t. Y’all just gotta stop trying to gatekeep a religion that was here before any of us were even born,” he noted, before telling critics to shut the f**k up.
The “Industry Baby” rapper clearly had a change of heart after receiving a huge amount of criticism for manipulating the religious iconography for his music video.
“I wanted to — not necessarily — apologize, but I wanted to explain, like, where my head at, and where it’s been the, like, the last week,” he said in a Jan. 15 X post.
“First of all, when I did the artwork, I knew, like, there would be some upset people and whatnot. Simply ‘cause — you know, religion is, like, a very sensitive topic for a lot of people,” Lil Nas X remarked.
“But I also didn’t mean to, like, mock — this wasn’t, like, a f**k you to you people, um, f**k you to the Christians, like, it wasn’t — it was not that — it was literally me saying oh I’m back — I’m back like Jesus!” he continued.
He defended his actions by point out that he wasn’t the first celebrity to “dress up as Jesus,” and noted that he “won’t be the last.”

The rapper also acknowledged that after giving the devil a lap dance in his “Montero” video, he is aware that religious depictions in his work can “be seen as mockery,” but said that “was not the case with” his latest single.
“I know, like I messed up, like — really bad this time,” he went on. “And I can act unbothered all I want but it has definitely taken a mental toll on me.”
“I do want my Christian fans to know I am not against you. I was put on this earth to, you know, bring people closer together and promote love, and like, that’s — that’s who I am.”
The “Old Town Road” rapper said that he’s “not some like evil demon guy trying to destroy everybody’s values and stuff like that,” and added that he meant “no disrespect.”

“I thought me clearly not being on the side of the devil in that video was, like, the — that there was an understanding there that I’m not like trying to diss — uh, Christianity,” he concluded.
