Former Republican California Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger flipped on his party to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris in a scathing rebuke against former President Donald Trump.
“I don’t really do endorsements. I’m not shy about sharing my views, but I hate politics and don’t trust most politicians,” Schwarzenegger began in a lengthy social media post on Wednesday morning.
“I also understand that people want to hear from me because I am not just a celebrity, I am a former Republican Governor,” the “Terminator” star previously served served as the golden state’s governor from 2003 to 2011.
“Let me be honest with you: I don’t like either party right now,” he continued frankly. My Republicans have forgotten the beauty of the free market, driven up deficits, and rejected election results.”

My time as Governor taught me to…

Though he was quick to point out that Democrats “aren’t any better at dealing with deficits,” and he worries about their soft-on-crime policies hurting cities across the nation.
“It is probably not a surprise that I hate politics more than ever, which, if you are a normal person who isn’t addicted to this crap, you probably understand. I want to tune out. But I can’t,” the 77-year-old “True Lies” actor continued.
Without saying Trump’s name Schwarzenegger still managed to call him out for,“ rejecting the results of an election” which he said “is as un-American as it gets.”

“To someone like me who talks to people all over the world and still knows America is the shining city on a hill, calling America … a trash can for the world is so unpatriotic, it makes me furious,” he added.
Schwarzenegger said that he “will always be an American before I am a Republican,” which is why he chose to endorse the Harris/Walz ticket.
“I’m sharing it with all of you because I think there are a lot of you who feel like I do,” he went on. “You don’t recognize our country. And you are right to be furious.”
“Trust Fauci. Get vaccinated. Wear a mask. Do social distancing. Screw your freedom.”

The “Eraser” star noted that “Washington does nothing” about pressing issues like the national debt and immigration reform.
“The only people that benefit from this crap are the politicians who prefer having talking points to win elections to the public service that will make Americans’ lives better,” he added. “It is a just game to them. But it is life for my fellow Americans. We should be pissed!”
In conclusion, he blasted Trump for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
“But a candidate who won’t respect your vote unless it is for him, a candidate who will send his followers to storm the Capitol while he watches with a Diet Coke, a candidate who has shown no ability to work to pass any policy besides a tax cut that helped his donors and other rich people like me but helped no one else, a candidate who thinks Americans who disagree with him are the bigger enemies than China, Russia, or North Korea — that won’t solve our problems,” Schwarzenegger stated.
It’s not a shock that the “Last Action Hero” chose to endorse Harris, after complaining in November about needing “new leaders” to emerge when the the presidential race was still between Trump and President Joe Biden at the time.
“I’m a big believer in new blood and a new generation,” he told Axios. “But if that’s what it needs, if that’s what this country needs, to have that kind of a showdown again and to finally find out, you know, that Biden is, you know, the legitimate president, then so be it.”
However, his strong preference would have been to see new front runners emerge out of the primaries.
“The bottom line is, I think we need to find new leaders,” the former govneror said about potential Commander-in-Chiefs.
“To me they’re both flawed and I just think we’re at a time now where we need someone strong, where we need visionaries, and not people that tinker around with little Mickey Mouse stuff.”
At the time, Schwarzenegger said that the current state of American politics is “embarrassing” on the world stage.
“They’re [politicians in Washington] killing themselves to get just a simple budget going,” he elaborated.
“I mean, where are we now? You know, it’s just, it’s embarrassing to the rest of the world the way we kind of, like, can’t get things done.”
He noted that immigration, health care, infrastructure, and the national deficit are all issues that politicians have been unable to solve.
“I’m open to anything, I’m open to someone fresh coming in and someone new kind of taking over,” he commented. “That’s what I’m interested in.”
