President-elect Donald Trump’s recent landslide victory over Vice President Kamala Harris has ignited a surprise request from the NFL’s fan base.
An outcry has emerged among Washington Commanders supporters, urging Trump to wield his influence in restoring the team’s name back to its original.
Following the Republican candidate’s decisive win on Tuesday, NFL fans have voiced a desire for the president-elect to advocate for reverting the team’s name to the Washington Redskins.
The moniker was used from 1937, when the team relocated from Boston to the nation’s capital, until 2020.

That year, former owner Dan Snyder conceded to prolonged pressure, opting to drop the name deemed offensive to Native Americans.
The change came amidst heightened racial tensions and the aftershock of the 2020 George Floyd protests, which along with the sexual harassment scandal that rocked the team, compelled the organization to reconsider its identity after sponsors threatened to sever ties if the name remained.
This led to a rebranding phase, beginning with the temporary title of the Washington Football Team, followed by the adoption of the “Commanders” label in 2022.
Yet, in the wake of Trump reclaiming the presidency, fans have rallied to push back against what they perceive as excessive political correctness.
“Donald Trump should force the NFL to rename them to the ‘Redskins’,” one supporter posted on X.
“Can we start calling Washington the Redskins again tomorrow?” another fan asked.
“Every time I hear the sports commentators say “commanders” I think DEI and it ruins the game,” someone else noted.
“Commanders sounds too much like Communism,” somebody added.
One fan alleged, “64% of Native Americans voted for Trump. Bring back the Indians and Redskins. End the politically correct nonsense.”
A Native American group petitioned the Commanders to change back to the Redskins name in 2023. to combat what they deemed as ‘cancel culture.’
Meanwhile, Miami Dolphins player Raheem Mostert’s spouse, Devon, criticized “The View’s” Sunny Hostin for her comments about white women who voted for Donald Trump, who she labeled “uneducated.”
This clip, in which Sunny Hostin blames “uneducated white women” for costing Harris a win, is just insulting.
A lot of Dems willfully refuse to accept that people are more complicated than their race & sex. It’s extremely entitled, and it makes us dumber. pic.twitter.com/qv1EW3p2tm

Hostin bemoaned Trump’s overwhelming win against Harris on Thursday’s broadcast, as she voiced confusion about the significant number of white women who supported the former president, especially given his role in overturning laws that protected abortion rights in 2022.
“I want to dig further into the demographics because Black women tried to save this country again last night — 92 percent of Black women voted for the vice president,” Hostin stated. “You have Latinas in the 70th percentile voting for the vice president.”
“What we did not have is white women, who voted about 52 percent for Donald Trump — uneducated White women is my understanding,” she insulted.
“Why do you think that uneducated White women voted against their reproductive health freedoms?” Hostin asked.
Devon Mostert took to social media to retort, sharing a clip of Hostin’s remarks on her Instagram story, accompanied by the comment, “Uneducated white woman here. Sunny, I GUARANTEE I can school you on any given political topic on any given day.”
In a subsequent post she wrote, “Can you IMAGINE if the role was flipped here? If a white woman said this? There would be OUTRAGE. Racism goes allllll kinda ways. And ALL WAYS are disgusting and unacceptable.”
