Rep. Nancy Mace and Rep. Jasmine Crockett got into a heated exchange during a recent House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform hearing, creating a moment the liberal panelists of “The View,” couldn’t resist blaming the conservative lawmaker for.
The debate started when Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) pushed for reinstating the subcommittee on civil rights and civil liberties on Tuesday.
During her pitch, Crockett implied that Republicans lacked the commitment or backbone to defend civil rights. This brought on fiery responses from her GOP colleagues.
It didn’t take long for things to turn personal. Crockett leveled criticism at Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), accusing her of hypocrisy and suggesting Mace had leveraged controversial fundraising tactics rooted in debates over women’s facilities being accessible to trans individuals.

One of Crockett’s remarks referred to Mace as a “child,” setting the tone for a verbal showdown.
Mace fired back, challenging her opponent’s credibility by calling out what she saw as contradictory positions on rights and privacy.
Mace, who has spoken openly about being a rape survivor, accused Democrats, including Crockett, of policies that undermine women’s rights.
“You all want men with penises, chicks with d****, in the bathroom with us,” Mace stated bluntly. “You want women to be forced to undress in front of men in the locker room and in dressing rooms.”
She further declared, “It’s so hypocritical for you to sit here and … be screaming from the rooftops about the right to privacy and civil rights when you don’t respect women.”
The clash reached a tipping point when Crockett further escalated by accusing Mace of intentionally fear-mongering around trans issues as a political strategy.
Crockett dared Mace, stating that continued emphasis on terms like “trans, trans, trans” was clearly a calculated ploy.
Things only unraveled faster from there, with both congresswomen raising their voices and talking over one another.
Ultimately, Mace stunned everyone by proposing, “If you want to take it outside,” suggesting she was prepared to escalate their verbal sparring into a physical fight.
The fallout from this exchange stirred reactions not just within the political arena but also across TV screens the following day.
The View” cohost Joy Behar joked it resembled something straight off their own show’s fiery spats.

Sara Haines quipped, “We have never taken it outside,” attempting to lighten the mood before discussions turned serious.
Moderator Whoopi Goldberg put Mace under scrutiny for what she called “anti-trans tirades,” highlighting what she saw as an overemphasis on divisive topics instead of addressing practical issues like the cost of living.
“I don’t understand why she’s so concerned about trans athletes and not concerned about the price of groceries,” Goldberg remarked.
She claimed that Crockett’s “child” comment was colloquial slang misunderstood by Mace and added, “Look, girl, chile, whatever” is nothing out of line where casual communication is concerned.
Haines pointed out Mace’s choices in personal presentation, targeting the Republican’s large cross-shaped earrings as she suggested irony in how Jesus might respond.
“What got me is that [Rep. Mace] was talking about it with big crosses in her [earrings]. Something tells me this is not what Jesus would do in this situation,” said Haines.
This sentiment led to Behar chiming in, suggesting conservatives “leave Jesus alone” because “the man is busy.”
Among the most cutting critiques was from Sunny Hostin, who condemned the framing of African American women as “angry Black women,” contrasting Crockett’s treatment with how Mace’s anger wasn’t similarly categorized.
Hostin added, “I wonder where the trope of the angry Black woman is, because I’d like to see her, for asking a Black woman to, ‘meet me outside,’ called an angry white woman.”
She argued the conflict wasn’t purely about qualifications or policies like DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion), asserting instead that deeper biases were at play.
Goldberg ended the segment by bringing attention back to the plight of trans individuals, wondering why the issue had dominated conservative discourse when “less than 1 percent of folks are trans.”
She directly addressed Mace with a surprising note, saying, “Nancy, you can be a hero.”
Although Goldberg did not elaborate on her statement, Hostin offered additional commentary and flat-out dismissed Mace’s potential for heroism, saying, “she doesn’t have the qualifications to be a hero” and went further to liken Mace to being in Jordan Peele’s “Sunken Place” from the film Get Out.
I’m no child. And if I wanted a physical fight, you’d know it. That’s not what this was.
I won’t be bullied by someone who wants to take away women’s rights while lecturing about civil rights. I won’t be bullied by someone who thinks being scared of rape is a “fantasy.”

Both lawmakers took to social media to extend their feud. Mace wrote on X that she wasn’t one to back down, labeling Crockett’s behavior as bullying.
“I’m no child. And if I wanted a physical fight, you’d know it,” she tweeted. “That’s not what this was. I won’t be bullied by someone who wants to take away women’s rights while lecturing about civil rights. I won’t be bullied by someone who thinks being scared of rape is a ‘fantasy.'”
Crockett didn’t hold back either, posting her own scathing critique, calling Mace a “Karen” and accusing her of being “an attention-seeking loser who clearly has some fundraising goals to hit … and to be clear that is the only thing that she will hit.”
