Pop star Gwen Stefani has become the target of criticism from some left-leaning fans after sharing an interview featuring conservative commentator Tucker Carlson and actor Jonathan Roumie.
The 55-year-old singer, best known as the lead vocalist of No Doubt, faced backlash after she publicly praised the discussion between Carlson and Roumie, who is a devout Catholic.
Roumie, widely recognized for his portrayal of Jesus Christ in the crowdfunded television series The Chosen, spent nearly ninety minutes in conversation with Carlson.
Their discussion centered on topics such as the observance of Lent, the significance of faith, and Roumie’s involvement in the Christian prayer app, Hallow, which Stefani has previously endorsed.

Following the interview, Stefani took to X to express her admiration, writing, “Wow Jonathan Roumie, you are a powerful inspirational human, what an enlightening intelligent beautiful interview thank you for being you gx.”
Stefani’s commendation of his interview with Carlson quickly sparked outrage among certain fans who interpreted her post as an endorsement of conservative views.
Many critics took to social media to voice their disapproval, with some alleging that the pop star had aligned herself with former President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” movement.
One user on X lamented, “Gwen as a long time fan you’re making it harder and harder to keep supporting you please don’t platform Tucker Carlson the Russian propagandist good lord.”

Another disappointed follower commented, “You honestly need a reality check God this is heartbreaking.”
Some critics resorted to personal attacks, with one user writing, “Why are people surprised that Gwen Stefani is a right wing lunatic?”
“Miss thing made a career out of cosplaying as other ethnicities and married a country music guy. lol like….let’s use our brains,” they added.
Despite the backlash, Stefani has never openly discussed her political affiliations and has previously noted her preference to keep such matters private.

In a 2021 interview with Paper magazine, she defended her decision not to disclose her political stance, arguing that artists are not obligated to share their views with the public.
“I can see how people would be curious, but I think it’s pretty obvious who I am,” she said at the time.
Stefani elaborated on her background and artistic inspirations, explaining, “I’ve been around forever. I started my band because we were really influenced by ska, which was a movement that happened in the late ’70s, and it was really all about people coming together.”
Her early music, she noted, reflected themes of unity. “The first song I ever wrote was a song called ‘Different People,’ which was on the Obama playlist, you know, a song about everyone being different and being the same and loving each other.”

Stefani has also been at the center of past controversies regarding cultural appropriation, particularly for her incorporation of bindis and saris into her stage outfits.
Addressing such criticisms, she defended her artistic choices, explaining that her embrace of Hindu culture was inspired by her No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal, whose family hails from India.
“If we didn’t buy and sell and trade our cultures in, we wouldn’t have so much beauty, you know? We learn from each other, we share from each other, we grow from each other,” she said.
She also voiced concerns about increasing societal divisions, remarking, “All these rules are just dividing us more and more.”
The “Cool” singer reflected on how attitudes have shifted over time, observing, “I think that we grew up in a time where we didn’t have so many rules. We didn’t have to follow a narrative that was being edited for us through social media, we just had so much more freedom.”
Stefani is married to country music star and former The Voice coach Blake Shelton, who has previously indicated a level of support for Donald Trump, though he has not been overtly political.
In a 2016 Billboard interview, Shelton remarked, “Whether you love him or hate him, he says what he thinks, and he has proven that you don’t always have to be so afraid.”
Meanwhile, Shelton is preparing to release his first album in four years. His upcoming record, For Recreational Use Only, is set to debut on May 9.
Speaking about the album, Shelton expressed gratitude to those involved in its creation.
“It’s been a long time since we had a new album out, and I want to thank the songwriters and musicians who helped bring this record to life,” he said in a statement.

“Scott [Hendricks] and I have been working on this music for years, and I’m beyond excited to finally share it with the fans.”
One of the album’s standout tracks, “Let Him in Anyway,” is a poignant ballad that reflects on faith and redemption.
The song’s lyrics tell the story of someone seeking divine intervention for a friend who was beginning to embrace Christianity but passed away before fully committing to his faith.
“‘Let Him in Anyway’ is one of the most powerful songs I’ve ever had the chance to record,” Shelton shared in a press release. “Hardy is a co-writer and a friend, and I’ve never heard a song like this before.”
“When I first listened to it, I knew it was something special,” he added. “It’s an honor to bring it to life, and I’m incredibly proud of the record we made.”
