Ultra-liberal actor Alec Baldwin is losing his mind over President Donald Trump’s aggressive new move to put Washington, D.C.’s police force under federal control.
In a TikTok rant, Baldwin claimed the president’s decision to mobilize federal law enforcement in the nation’s capital is part of a broader plan to “take over” whatever he can.
He ticked off a list of cities and institutions he believes could be targeted, bizarrely including professional sports leagues.
“What’s gonna happen next? Is Trump gonna federalize the New York City Police Department? What’s after that? Chicago, L.A., Miami, Boston, and on and on? What’s after that? The NFL? The NBA?” Baldwin asked.

“Is he gonna federalize them to take them over? All he wants to do is deflect from his inadequacy by the bold, insane moves.”
The embattled “Rust” actor naturally made Trump’s order all about him as he continued to go off.
“The takeover of D.C. police, it’s not what I need. I don’t need this D.C. police to be taken over. I don’t,” he whined.

“They need to get the tariffs over with. They need to get the war over with. They need to get the Gaza thing over with.”
“And after that, we have something else we have to get over with,” he concluded ominously.
It is nuts that Alec Baldwin doesn't ever sit one out.
You really think we want to hear from you–ALEC BALDWIN– about CRIME?

Baldwin’s outrage comes as Trump rolled out a sweeping federal intervention in the capital city, deploying the National Guard and placing D.C.’s police department under direct federal oversight in a bid to reverse what he described as a dangerous spike in crime.
“I’m going to make our Capital safer and more beautiful than it ever was before,” Trump announced.
“We want our Capital BACK. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

On social media, Trump doubled down on his promise: “Washington, D.C. will be LIBERATED today! Crime, Savagery, Filth, and Scum will DISAPPEAR. I will, MAKE OUR CAPITAL GREAT AGAIN!”
The decision sparked an immediate firestorm from Democrats, with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accusing Trump of playing politics with the city’s safety.
“Donald Trump delayed deploying the National Guard on January 6th when our Capitol was under violent attack and lives were at stake,” she posted on X.

“Now, he’s activating the DC Guard to distract from his incompetent mishandling of tariffs, health care, education and immigration — just to name a few blunders.”
Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin dismissed Trump’s move as “a very extreme exercise of these powers” and claimed the emergency declaration was not justified.
He pointed to statistics suggesting violent crime in D.C. has declined in recent years, questioning why federal intervention was suddenly necessary.
Raskin told Axios that Trump “manufactured” the crisis for political reasons.
On CNN later that evening, he also compared the president’s current action to his response on January 6.

“When the Capitol and his own vice president and Congress were under attack by the mob violence that he unleashed against us,” Raskin remarked.
“He sat on his hands for many hours and then later asserted he somehow didn’t have the authority to deploy the National Guard. That was a real emergency; this is not a real emergency.”
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper, however, noted the tricky position Democrats are in when debating D.C.’s crime problem.
Speaking with New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, Cooper said the party risks looking out of touch if they cite statistics showing lower crime rates while residents see lawlessness firsthand.

“Do you point out statistics… and thereby sound like you’re saying, oh, there’s not a crime problem in Washington, DC? Where there’s crime problem everywhere,” Cooper said.
Haberman agreed, saying simply, “There is a crime problem everywhere.”
The federal action also came with sweeping changes to the city’s policing authority.
Attorney General Pam Bondi issued an order naming Drug Enforcement Administration Administrator Terry Cole as the new Emergency Police Commissioner, effective immediately.

The move temporarily strips Metro Police Chief Pamela Smith of her authority and grants officers more leeway in their interactions with suspected illegal immigrants.
Bondi’s order, titled “Restoring safety and security to the District of Columbia”, applies for the duration of Trump’s executive order declaring a “Crime Emergency in the District of Columbia.”
D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb called Bondi’s directive “unlawful” and instructed officers to ignore orders from anyone not appointed by the mayor.
He quickly filed a federal lawsuit to halt the takeover, denouncing Trump’s actions as “brazenly unlawful” and an “affront to the dignity” of D.C. residents.
This is an affront to the dignity and autonomy of the 700,000 Americans who call DC home.
Our office will go to court to defend Home Rule, block the unlawful orders, and maintain MPD under District control.
We have no choice but to stand up for DC residents' rights and safety.
— AG Brian Schwalb (@DCAttorneyGen) August 15, 2025
“We are suing to block the federal government takeover of DC police,” Schwalb said. “By illegally declaring a takeover of MPD, the Administration is abusing its temporary, limited authority under the law.”
“This is the gravest threat to Home Rule DC has ever faced, and we are fighting to stop it,” he added.
“The federal government’s power over DC is not absolute, and it should not be exercised as such.”
