Snoop Dogg is under fire after blasting LGBTQ+ themes in children’s movies, saying Hollywood is forcing conversations on kids that parents aren’t ready to have.
The Trump-supporting rap legend shared the story on Sarah Fontenot’s “It’s Giving” podcast, recalling how taking his grandson to see Pixar’s 2022 spinoff “Lightyear” quickly turned into a situation he didn’t anticipate.
The animated film, which drew controversy over its depiction of a same-sex couple, left the entertainer struggling to answer his grandson’s questions.
“What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere,” Snoop remarked.

He explained how his grandson asked about the character Alisha Hawthorne, who has a wife and a child in the movie. The boy asked him how two women could have a baby together.
“They’re like, ‘She had a baby — with another woman,’” Snoop said. “Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!’”
The rapper admitted he didn’t know what to say. “I’m like, ‘Oh sh**, I didn’t come in for this sh**. I just came to watch the goddamn movie,’” he said.
But the boy’s questions didn’t stop. “They just said, she and she had a baby — they’re both women. How does she have a baby?”
The Grammy winner recalled being rattled by the exchange. “It f**ked me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of sh** that I don’t have an answer for. It threw me for a loop. I’m like, ‘What part of the movie was this?’”

While acknowledging that kids naturally ask questions, Snoop pushed back on whether this type of content is necessary for a children’s film.
“These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer,” he said.
The Disney release was already at the center of a cultural battle after including a same-sex kiss, which was initially removed and then reinserted.
Liberal star Chris Evans, who voiced Buzz Lightyear, weighed in at the time, arguing that LGBTQ+ representation should be considered normal.

“The goal is that we can get to a point where it is the norm, and that this doesn’t have to be some uncharted waters — that eventually this is just the way it is,” he remarked.
Snoop’s criticism sparked instant blowback from progressives online. One commenter shot back, “It isn’t that hard to explain. Science. The answer is Science, Snoop. In vitro is used by many and honestly, I think you’re lying about this whole scenario!”
Another demanded, “Why can’t we be represented in anything without straight people freaking out? It’s not an agenda. Sometimes we just wanna see ourselves in media and entertainment. Is that so wrong?”
The controversy comes just weeks before Snoop is scheduled to perform at the Australian Football League’s Grand Final.
Critics Down Under were quick to pounce, with former AFL players David Schwarz and Brendan Fevola predicting the league will dump the rapper.
Given Snoop Dogg’s history of explicit homophobia, it is totally unacceptable he be considered for the AFL Grand Final.
That said, a performance of “Bitches Ain’t Shit” would be perfectly fitting for the AFLW Grand Final.

Schwarz said, “I’ll make a statement here, he will get cancelled, he will not be presenting on grand final day.”
Fevola added, “Because of his lyrics in his song and he talked about gay parents over the weekend. I think he will get the arse, and they are going to go for an Aussie artist to play at the MCG. That will happen, take that to the bank.”
But AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon defended the booking before Snoop’s podcast remarks, describing him as a grandfather and philanthropist who has rehabilitated youth and entertained millions worldwide.
Dillon insisted Snoop’s previous high-profile performances, including the Super Bowl and Olympic closing ceremony, were appropriate and well-received.

He argued the rapper would be “fitting for the best sporting event in the country.”
Entertainment commentator Peter Ford suggested there’s more behind the AFL’s decision.
He claimed the league booked Snoop to boost an upcoming 2026 Amazon Prime docuseries about the AFL premiership season.
“By having Snoop Dogg there, it will get international attention for the doco series. That’s why they were willing to bite the bullet and cop all the backlash,” Ford explained.
Ford admitted Snoop is an “unusual choice,” saying he prefers acts with “anthemic songs that the whole crowd can join in and get revved up by.”
He added the AFL knowingly accepted the “baggage” that comes with Snoop’s brand in order to grab international headlines.
