Bob’s Burgers star Eugene Mirman was pulled from a burning car by a Republican governor after crashing into a New Hampshire toll plaza.
The 51-year-old comedian, who has long been the voice of Gene Belcher on “Bob’s Burgers,” was driving a 2026 Lucid Gravity when it slammed into the Bedford Toll Plaza on Tuesday.
The vehicle ignited after impact, with flames pushing out from the front end as it sat pinned against the toll structure.
A state trooper assigned to New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s security detail reached the scene first and spotted the driver still trapped inside.

Bystanders rushed in alongside the trooper, forcing access through a window and pulling Mirman out before the fire spread further through the vehicle.
Ayotte grabbed a fire extinguisher from a nearby vehicle and moved toward the wreckage, helping contain the flames as the rescue unfolded.
Colonel Mark B. Hall later described the response as “heroic,” noting those involved acted immediately despite the risk.

He also made clear the governor was not directly in danger during the rescue, explaining she stepped in out of concern for others at the scene. Mirman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Emergency callers had reported a vehicle on fire with someone still inside, prompting a rapid response as crews moved toward the scene.
Police confirmed the driver was pulled through a window and brought clear of the flames before additional units arrived.
A representative for Mirman described the crash as a “very scary car accident,” adding that he is thankful for those who stepped in.
“He wants to thank the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him,” the representative said. “He is grateful to be on the mend.”
Authorities said the crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.
Ayotte later used social media to thank those who helped pull Mirman from the vehicle, pointing to the trooper on her security detail and nearby bystanders who moved in quickly.
“I want to thank the Trooper on my security detail and the bystanders who stepped up to help at the scene of the crash for their brave lifesaving efforts today,” she posted.

In a follow-up post, Ayotte shared video of the aftermath, showing flames pouring from the front of the vehicle as it sat jammed against the toll booth.

Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham faced a separate incident in California after a woman threw an unidentified substance at him.
The 76-year-old musician had arrived for an appointment in Santa Monica when the suspect approached and hurled the substance before taking off. Investigators believe the woman had been waiting nearby ahead of his arrival.

Law enforcement said the Los Angeles Police Department’s Threat Management Unit is working with Santa Monica police to track the suspect.
Authorities have identified a person of interest but have not made an arrest. Buckingham was not injured.
The encounter follows prior incidents involving a woman he has identified as a stalker.
In 2024, police responded to Buckingham’s home after a false emergency call claimed his son was in danger, which investigators later determined was a hoax.
Buckingham linked that call to the same individual, who he said has repeatedly targeted him and his family.
The woman has claimed to be Buckingham’s daughter and has blamed him for her physical condition, according to court filings.
Buckingham obtained a permanent restraining order in December 2024 after presenting evidence that the alleged stalker had been harassing him since 2021.
In court, he warned that the behavior could escalate into something physically dangerous. He also stated he has no personal relationship with the woman and does not know her.
Buckingham has been married to photographer Kristen Messner since 2000, and they have three children.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the same individual tied to earlier incidents is responsible for the latest encounter.
A separate case on Long Island involved a man who had previously stalked pop star Billie Eilish and was later killed by a train.
Prenell Rousseau, 30, was struck by a Long Island Rail Road train in Westbury early Wednesday morning of last week.
Officials noted Rousseau had been recreationally running near the tracks at the time, and the death is being treated as an accident.
Rousseau drew attention in 2020 after repeatedly appearing outside Eilish’s Los Angeles home.
Court records describe multiple visits over consecutive days, with behavior that escalated and left the singer and her family concerned.
During one encounter, Eilish’s father spoke with Rousseau at the door, and Rousseau indicated he may have gone to the wrong house.
He returned later that same day. The visits continued on back-to-back days in May, prompting legal action.
Eilish’s legal team requested a five-year restraining order, citing repeated visits and increasingly erratic behavior. A judge ultimately issued a three-year restraining order.
In court filings, Eilish described the situation as “frightening,” pointing to the impact on her and her family.
