The women of “The View” celebrated Democrats’ midterm victories Wednesday, with Sunny Hostin calling it “Christmas morning” and Alyssa Farah Griffin declaring the election the beginning of the end for MAGA.
The celebrations extended to late-night television and social media after Democrats captured both chambers of Congress Tuesday.
Jimmy Kimmel mocked President Donald Trump as the results rolled in, while progressive streamer Hasan Piker taunted conservative commentators with messages about sending them to jail.
Whoopi Goldberg opened Wednesday’s episode of “The View” wearing floral-patterned overalls, explaining that she wanted to give American voters their flowers for turning out in the election.

“It is due to the American public, to the American voters, that we are sitting and smiling and celebrating as we are,” Goldberg told the audience. “This was not, as a lot of folks have been saying, left nor right — this was American.”
Joy Behar joked that Trump had finally accomplished something remarkable despite his party’s losses in traditionally Republican states.
“Donald Trump has finally united the country,” Behar declared. “We’ve been waiting all this time. He can look at every Republican ass as they walk out the door.”

Former Trump administration staffer Griffin was even more enthusiastic, calling the results “a total and complete repudiation of Donald Trump’s presidency and his policies,” and predicting that “this is the beginning of the end of the MAGA movement” for Republicans.
“By the way, today, Donald Trump is officially a lame duck president,” Griffin added, referring to the remaining two years of his presidency.

Griffin, who described herself as a resistance Republican, said she had been waiting for her party to abandon policies she believes have alienated large portions of the electorate.
“I don’t believe in these tariffs that have cost people more money than we can afford, this war in Iran is a disaster, the ICE tactics that we’ve seen the enforcements are inhumane and against my values. I’m ready to see some new leadership.”
She also targeted the party’s potential 2028 presidential contenders, telling Vice President JD Vance that his chances had gone “down the toilet.” Griffin predicted Secretary of State Marco Rubio would face similar difficulties as Republicans reconsidered the direction of the party.
Ana Navarro joined the celebration with a reference to the January 6 Capitol riot.
Navarro said she was “very proud of the American people, because we showed that we don’t storm the Capitol, we storm the polls.” She recalled Trump’s suggestion that Americans should pretend he was on the ballot.
“Americans said, ‘Okay, we will,’ and they grabbed him by the ballot box.”
Hostin returned from a commercial break describing the morning as Christmas and arguing that widespread financial difficulties had helped unite Americans across racial and political divisions.
She pointed to Black and Latino communities, white farmers and working-class Americans struggling with the cost of groceries, gasoline and other necessities.
“There was this collective suffering, and I knew that America would be better in that moment because we were in it together,” Hostin said.
Democrats had secured 228 House seats by Wednesday morning, surpassing the 218 needed for a majority, with additional races still being counted. The party also captured control of the Senate after victories in several traditionally Republican strongholds.
Kimmel began celebrating Tuesday night as the results arrived during *Jimmy Kimmel Live*, describing the Democratic victories as a “blue tsunami” before turning his attention to Trump.
“After all the talk about Nicki Minaj’s ass, Jon Husted’s ass, the only ass on Trump’s mind tonight is the one that just got handed to him,” Kimmel joked.
The comedian also targeted Vance, claiming Democrats had won so many seats that the vice president would struggle to find one. He then imagined Trump watching the election coverage at the White House and throwing dipping-sauce containers at his television.
“Trump’s approval rating here is terrible, just like every woman he’s ever slept with,” Kimmel continued. “Voters are unsatisfied with the job he is doing.”
Kimmel’s celebration followed more than a year of tensions with the president, who had publicly welcomed ABC’s suspension of the comedian’s show following his remarks about the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Trump rejected the idea that the election represented a personal defeat, maintaining that his supporters would have turned out in greater numbers had he been running.
The president insisted on Truth Social that he “would have won in a landslide” if his name had appeared on the ballot. He also told Fox News he intended to use his veto power to resist Democratic proposals over the next two years.
Progressive streamer Hasan Piker took his celebration in a different direction, directing provocative messages at conservative personalities following the Democratic victories.
Piker, who has close ties to Michigan Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed, responded to commentator Matt Van Swol’s complaint about the election results with an all-caps post threatening jail time.
“WE’RE GONNA PUT YOUR ASS IN JAIL EVERYONE GET MORE WOKE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,” Piker wrote on X.
He followed with another message directed at Trump ally Laura Loomer, telling her she was going to jail “for being criminally ugly” — a jab Piker posted on X.
Piker also celebrated Democrat James Talarico’s Senate victory in Texas by revisiting a controversial statement that had become an issue during the campaign. Republicans had criticized Talarico for previously declaring that “God is nonbinary.”
“GOD IS NONBINARY NOW MFS!!! ITS LAW!!!” Piker posted after the result.
The following morning, Piker urged Democrats to embrace Talarico’s progressive politics and called for more socialism, while celebrating the party’s victories with another all-caps declaration.
“WOKE IS SO BACK,” he wrote.
The White House got the last laugh on Twitter, posting a PSA that read: “Trump is still your president.”
