“Stand By Me” director Rob Reiner trended on Twitter for lashing out at Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’ wife Ginni after she voluntarily testified before the U.S. House Select Committee about the Jan. 6 riot on Thursday.
Virginia “Ginni” Thomas denied that she and her husband spoke about any of the details of her “volunteer campaign activities” regarding the 2020 election.
“And I did not speak with him at all about the details of my post-election activities, which were minimal, in any event. I am certain I never spoke with him about any of the legal challenges to the 2020 election, as I was not involved with those challenges in any way,” she said according to The Federalist.
Following over four hours of testimony, committee chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson told CNN that Thomas still believes the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump. “Yes, she said that,” Thompson remarked.
Liberal Hollywood director Rob Reiner expressed his disgust over Thomas’ testimony early Friday morning.
“We’re living in a country where the wife of a Supreme Court Justice believes that the 2020 election was stolen. God help the United States of America,” he tweeted.
But Twitter sleuths were quick to throw on of “The Wolf of Wall Street” actor’s old posts in his face. “We’re living in a country where Rob Reiner believes the 2016 election,” a social media posted.
They backed up the claim with one of Reiner’s old posts. “100 days: no wall, no Muslim ban, no healthcare, no tax reform, no infrastructure, one stolen Supreme Court seat, one stolen election,” he wrote in April of 2017.
“We live in a country where Rob Reiner thinks he has anything intelligent to say about how we are governed. God help the United States of America,” someone else mocked.
“We’re living in a country where Rob Reiner has an audience of 2 million,” another replied. “God has already abandoned us.”
“I see Meathead is trending and there’s no way I’m clicking on that. If it’s about the Rob Reiner I already know I’ll lose IQ points for reading it,” someone wrote about the reference to his “All in the Family” character.
“When Democrats question elections it’s cool. When Republicans do it it’s evil,” one person wrote. “When your standards change based on the group identity, you just might be in a cult.”
Reiner’s Twitter history revealed that he has questioned the 2020 election more than once. “They stole the election, but they will not steal our democracy,” he wrote dramatically in the spring of 2017.
“We have an illegitimate President. He is lawless & incompetent. He threatens our security,” he posted in May of 2019. This Memorial Day let us honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice by fighting to protect our Democracy from this foreign backed domestic enemy.
“The original sin of America is slavery. The original sin of Trump’s Presidency is a stolen election,” Reiner followed up in 2020. “For the sake of equal justice, human dignity, and the preservation of Democracy we can not let him steal another.”
