High-Profile Democrats Get Torched After A Week Of Viral Embarrassments

Several high profile Democrats were torched online after going embarrassingly viral on social media.

Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman tried to celebrate a new crosswalk and wound up giving critics a before-and-after graphic that still showed cracked pavement underneath the fresh paint.

Raman, a Los Angeles City Council member, announced that yellow crosswalk stripes had been added at Sunset Dr. and Bates St. after the Los Feliz Neighborhood Council asked her office in late 2025 for help at the intersection.

“The Los Feliz Neighborhood Council alerted our office in late 2025 to the need for a crosswalk at Sunset Dr. and Bates St., which has just been completed,” Raman wrote Wednesday.

“Thank you to our incredible CD4 Field Team for continuing to problem-solve, push for solutions, and make our streets safer.”

The post came with a “Street Infrastructure” graphic showing the new crosswalk. The same images also showed large cracks still running through the street below it.

Raman did not say exactly when the late-2025 request reached her office or identify which city agency installed the crosswalk.

Spencer Pratt, the former reality television star who also ran in the June mayoral primary, turned the timeline and pavement damage into the easiest attack line.

“Nithya Raman’s big accomplishment is taking 9 months to paint 7 yellow stripes over a cracked street? How dumb do you have to be to post this?” Pratt wrote.

Pratt had initially been in second place on election night in L.A.’s nonpartisan primary before additional vote-by-mail ballots pushed Raman ahead of him. Raman advanced to the November runoff against incumbent Democratic Mayor Karen Bass.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker gave the internet a different kind of visual target with an X video captioned “Governor-maxxing.”

The billionaire Democrat’s clip showed him striking poses while the video declared, “When you’re in an aura farming contest and your opponent is J.B.”

“Aura farming” is slang for deliberately acting cool or confident to collect invisible clout points, but critics quickly flipped the phrase back on Pritzker.

One commenter turned the governor’s “aura” into a joke about physics.

“To everyone making fun of this just remember, to generate aura you must generate gravity. And in order to generate gravity, you need a large amount of mass in one object. And no other object has more mass then JB Pritzker,” the user wrote.

Another viral response used Pritzker’s own “maxxing” format against his Illinois record, listing “Property-tax-maxxing,” “Gas-tax-hike-maxxing,” “Pension-debt-maxxing,” and “Fiscal-instability-maxxing.”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom created his own unusual viral moment by publicly praising a Trump-branded savings program for newborns.

Newsom encouraged Californians to consider Trump accounts, also known as 530a accounts, which were created by President Donald Trump with help from Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Cory Booker, D-N.J.

The accounts provide a market-indexed nest egg beginning at $1,000 for children born during Trump’s second term.

At a news conference with first lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the California governor compared the accounts to a Sacramento-based program championed by his wife and told residents not to let partisan discomfort keep them from using the benefit.

“I’m enthusiastic about encouraging people to get a Trump account. I think it’s incredibly important,” Newsom said. “It’s one of the best things he’s done, and so we’re here to encourage people to take advantage of this.”

Newsom warned Californians not to “fall prey” to politics, cynicism or fear that opening a Trump account “somehow means something.”

“It doesn’t, it just means something for your kid. It’s not Trump’s money. It’s your child’s money,” Newsom said.

Conservative writer Charles Hurt treated the praise as a signal from a Democrat who may already be looking at 2028.

“Gavin Newsom, who fancies himself a 2028 nominee, has come out and said that he completely supports this and that he thinks it’s the best thing President Trump has ever done,” Hurt said.

“He is so thirsty,” Hurt added on “Fox & Friends Weekend.”

Former George W. Bush White House press secretary Dana Perino made the same presidential-primary point on Fox News’ “The Five,” saying Newsom’s early support could help him if future Democratic candidates are asked whether they would keep Trump accounts.

Perino suggested Newsom could use his current position to answer claims that he backed the program only when it became politically convenient.

Rep. Ilhan Omar’s name entered the week’s viral Democratic pileup after Alpha News reported that Minneapolis police raided a home tied to her son, Adnan Hirsi.

The outlet reported that police searched Hirsi’s home earlier this week, confiscated guns and ammunition and arrested his roommate, Abdulrahman Abdi.

Hirsi has not been implicated in wrongdoing, and Omar has not been implicated in the incident.

The apartment connection was still enough for right-wing critics to attack the progressive congresswoman online.

“Not a good look for Ilhan Omar,” right-wing activist Benny Johnson wrote.

Townhall columnist Derek Hunter used the report to bring up an unproven online conspiracy theory that Omar has denied.

“Anyone shocked that a horrible person would be a horrible mother? What do you expect from someone who marries their brother?” Hunter wrote.
