“Stand By Me” director Rob Reiner believes that the only way that democracy can go forward is if former President Donald Trump goes to prison.
The ultra-liberal Biden fanboy went on an anti-Trump rampage, after lauding Joe Biden for being the “example of the most successful presidency in the last 60 years,” for “dramatically lowering the cost of prescription drugs.”
The next day he warned his 2.2 million followers that “any vote for a third party candidate like Joe Manchin or Cornell West will put Donald Trump back in the White House.”
Days later, he said that the United States would only survive if Trump and “the corrupt party he leads,” are defeated at the polls in 2024.
EYES WIDE OPEN. In 2024 any vote for a third party candidate like Joe Manchin or Cornell West will put Donald Trump back in the White House.

“Let this sink in,” he prompted on Sept. 4. “Republicans say that even if Trump is a Convicted Felon who attempted to destroy American Democracy, they will still vote for him.”
Reiner really flew off the handle four days later, when he claimed that a vote for Trump is a vote for the “ultimate destruction” of democracy.
“Since the Civil War the threat to American Democracy has not been greater than it is today,” he posted.

Later the same day he shared some “hard reality” about how the upcoming Presidential election needs to play out.
“For our Democracy to survive, two things have to happen,” Reiner tweeted. “Donald Trump needs to be Convicted for Jan. 6th and there can be no Third Party Candidate.”
Social media pundits had plenty to say about about the Hollywood heavyweight’s ridiculous remarks.

“‘For Democracy to survive we need to imprison the opposition candidate and stop anyone else from running.’ LOL,” replied Collin Rugg.
“I love when Democrats take a break from insisting that they are “Defending Democracy” to actually explaining a bit what they mean by ‘democracy,'” wrote journalist Glenn Greenwald.
“From trying to imprison their political adversaries, to suing to strike them from the ballot, to censoring the internet.”
The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway said that removing “the candidate most likely to defeat the ruling regime” from the ballot, is a “horrific attack on democracy,” and would be the “equivalent of cancelling the 2024 elections.”
When American Tribune co-founder Jason Robertson questioned why Reiner thinks democracy won’t survive a third party candidate, someone aptly replied: “Because it makes it much harder to cheat.”
The “All in the Family” star isn’t the meathead to make questionable statements about democracy being contingent on Trump’s conviction.
MSNBC Columnist Dean Obeidallah declared that Trump “must die in prison,” during a conversation with SiriusXM radio host Tommy Christopher.
“I don’t care if he was 45 years old,” he said. “You should get life in prison if you attempt a coup, and there should be no chance of parole. I don’t care who it is.”

“Because either we’re going to protect the Democratic Republic or we’re going to allow people — in this case, Trump — to chip away at our democracy and chip away at what we believe in these institutions,” he continued.
“That’s why I’m so passionate about, like with every fiber of my being, that Donald Trump has to live out his natural days, his last days of natural life, in a prison cell.”
He claimed Trump needed to be made an example of to deter others, and expressed his outrage that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis told Newsmax he would consider pardoning the Proud Boys if elected, which Obeidallah declared was “treasonous.”
“The prosecution laid out the case: they began plotting right after the election when Trump said the election was stolen. They brought their people there,” he recapped.
“They had 200 people there at ten in the morning, way before Trump’s speech down by the Capitol, because they had plotted how they were going to attack the Capitol.”
“And they did that to stop the certification, and that’s why they were convicted of seditious conspiracy, just one step below treason,” Obeidallah concluded.
